Don't be put off by the area. A few bars for food and drink. It's a perfect base to stay, a short drive to the beautiful lake district and a short trip to the south lakes zoo. Secure parking and a lovely room to relax after your trips out

Lovely area would suit most people.
Lovely area would suit most people. There are hidden gems if you like to explore. Plenty of shopping facilities. Easy to eat out at reasonable prices. The roads are clearly signed and easy to navigate. A great base for either staying in Barrow-in=Furness or travelling around the lakes daily.
A quiet holiday to extreme adventures, your choice is within the Lake District.

Hotel does not provide value for money, much better hotels available for cheaper price. Pockets of good/excellence from staff, but major improvements required in the hospitality food preparation particularly for breakfast, which was extremely dissappointing. Generally, grounds are okay but nothing particularly special, the description and photos, do not accurately reflect the experience.
Would not take much to improve all round, as a number of staff were very nice and supportive.

This place has a really negative aura.
This place has a really negative aura. I can't even explain why but I was anxious while there. We should have booked a stay much closer to the Lakes or at least in Ulverston that is just a stone's throw away.

Very modern looking. Extremely clean in all areas. Lovely food, very plesant staff. Room was great, facing the town hall. Comfy pillows and mattress. Hairdryer and iron available in the room. Bathroom was very modern, soft towels. Loved the body /hand soap, even had moisturiser and conditioner. Free carpark behind hotel, when this was full we used the carpark opposite (free after 6pm). Very nice to have free apples, oranges, banannas, water and orange juice available in reception area. One of the best Holiday Inns we've stayed in.
The Abbey House Hotel is a stylish character property on the outskirts of Barrow. The staff are attentive and courteous at all times. When we returned to our room for our second night, we discovered it had inexplicably been converted from a double into a twin, which was most perplexing and quite annoying. However, not only did the hotel send someone up to put it all back, they also stood us complimentary cocktails and supper. It isn't so much the mistakes you should rate a place on, but on what they do to make things right.
It's in a great location near the railway station.
The staff that we met in the hotel were very friendly and informative and couldn't have been nicer.
We had 2 meals in the hotel evening and breakfast and both were cooked well so thank you Weatherspoons for providing us with a good staycation.
The hotel is amazingly dog friendly, with an ample field opposite the hotel to walk .
There is a park on site for kids, which was utilised and the children had fun
The staff were friendly and the food was good. Would definitely recommend..
This hotel is a little way out of the centre, but there is plenty of parking space and it is located in a nice suburb of Barrow near to the hospital and the rest of the Furness peninsula. A good breakfast was included in the price.
This was just a quick flying visit to catch up with family.
Hotel is conveniently located in town centre and there's parking available.
Efficient friendly staff on arrival and the check in procedure was quick and seamless.
The cooked breakfast was excellent.
This hotel is in a good place for touring the south west area of Cumbria. It is a good 35 minute walk into Barrow but there is a regular bus service that stops right outside the hotel
Great a-la cart breakfast. The guest room is very big. The hotel is located in the city center (very good location) and there is a big parking lot just opposite to the main entrance which is very convenient for traveler.
It’s a good price and only a short walk from station and good location for shops and bars etc room was comfy and clean as well , barrow is a handy base for Cumbria as I visited several lovely places on the rail route .
the whole 3 bedroom house was at our disposal. nice location, close to barrow in furness city center. Eating options are close by, specially the Turkish restaurant Kapadokia was outstanding.
The room was a very good size, lovely a warm when I arrived, easy to access and find.
Facilities were good, all the usual you’d expect from a hotel/B&B.
