Stratford upon Avon is great for a short trip and easy to get to from London or anywhere from the Midlands. Particularly nice in spring. There are options for boat hires along the river, or go on a boating trip with someone else steering. Lots of little shops to explore. The big draw is the RSC. So nice to take in a play there with a pre-theatre dinner and explore the town.

Shakespeare's birthplace and museum was great!
Shakespeare's birthplace and museum was great! Staff were brilliant. We loved Stratford's mix of regular high street shops and unique independents. Lots of historic buildings and places to visit. We saw a matinee performance of a show that was at 1.15pm. We had time in the morning to explore, but after the show there wasn't much time for museums and other places of interest before they were closing for the day. Next time, I'll plan for a 2 day visit instead of just 1.

I could have stayed longer but this was a joint birthday trip for my 102 y o mother, my daughter and me to go to the RSC.
We also visited the MAD Museum - a wonderful place for all ages
The Butterfly Farm - very interesting but dress appropriately - it's VERY hot!
The RSC theatre and production was WONDERFUL. Good wheelchair access if booked ahead, adequate WCs, lovely staff.
We had supper at The Rooftop restaurant - top class food!
We came across Saturday's Park Run - lovely local people who greeted us as we watched them run. What a lovely place.

Stratford is a lovely town with lots of history and places to visit. We have been many times in the past and this visit was just a stop-over en route from Buckingham to Yorkshire.
The town is easy to get around and there is a very good tour bus that takes you to all the places of interest so you don't really need a car once you're there.
There are some lovely restaurants and coffee houses in the centre. On this occasion we ate at Ask and had a very nice meal - much nicer than our last visit to an Ask restaurant!
We didn't get chance to go this time but the Shakespeare Theatre is always worth a visit when there is a production on, although it is very expensive.
There are many hotels/guest houses in Stratford and on this visit we chose to stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Whilst it is very central to the town centre and has good parking facilities, there is no soundproofing in the rooms and the incessant slamming of doors has put us off ever staying there again.

The location could not be better: right in the middle of the town and close to everything that may interest a tourist or a theatregoer. Like many old buildings in Stratford, the hotel extends back from the street a good distance, which helps make rooms quiet. Breakfast was well cooked (if you want a cooked breakfast) and offered many attractive options, including fresh fruit. Staff worked hard to keep rooms clean and tidy - and supplied with tea-making materials. I enjoyed my stay very much.
The location of this guesthouse is perfect for exploring Stratford Upon Avon. Our room had everything we needed including a lovely comfy bed and a hot drinks tray. The bedroom and en-suite were decorated to a high standard and everything looked fresh and spotless. There were lots of breakfast options and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Our host, Tamara, is the sweetest most helpful person you could ask for. We enjoyed our stay so much, we stayed an extra night.
Everything. We loved it all. The food was delicious and the staff were very on the ball with my lactose intolerance. It wasn't cheap but worth every penny. The room and bathroom were large, clean and comfortable. The hotel stands in it's own, extensive and stunning, grounds. The surrounding area is also beautiful and lovely Stratford upon Avon is close by. All the staff we encountered were very helpful, friendly and appeared happy in their work.
I liked the property because it was very beautifully decorated and had lovely paintings of swans. the room was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable which led to me having a great nights sleep after seeing a Shakespeare play. The gardens were beautiful but we didn’t have time to go and sit out in them. It’s the best hotel to stay at in Stratford Upon Avon if you want a luxury break away.
Lucy the host was phenomenal. So friendly we had a three bed room for £110 including a full English breakfast for three people. Absolutely amazing value. The bed was comfy the rooms clean. It's 10 minutes away from the town centre. If I could award this hotel above 10 I would have. The best hotel I have ever stayed in Stratford upon Avon.
Custom cooked breakfast was delicious, and the dining room was lovely. The host was very gracious. The farm is beautiful, close to Stratford upon Avon, but is in a quiet, pastoral setting. The hosts were thoughtful and helpful with a personal request. We would have liked to stay another night! The room was charming and bed was very comfy.
The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. It was clean but the paint on my bedroom ceiling was peeling and the whole place needs a renovation. It is a sham as this is the best location in Stratford upon Avon and the building is historic. This hotel used to be the place to stay in Stratford upon Avon but unfortunately not anymore.
Large hotel in centre of Stratford upon Avon, so an easy walk to the theatre and other attractions. Parking once.
Very bright and comfortable room.
Spacious, open public areas including the bar. We didn't use the outside terrace but it looks like a great place to relax with friends.
Excellent breakfast.
It was an amazing experience being in the centre of Stratford upon Avon, living in the hotel with the 16th century mural and we even got a Birthday present in our room, unexpected!
I would highly recommend staying in the White Swan for everyone looking for a special time in their lives.
Nicely appointed hotel - quite a long walk from our rooms to the main hotel. Breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the Manor Bar in the evening; great staff there. Did not use the spa but it looked good!
Heated towel rails in the bathroom and lovely big bath sheets.
Easy to find. Lovely and quiet. Sue and John lovely hosts and very helpful. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Only 2 miles from Stratford Upon Avon town centre; an amazing interesting place to visit. Museum, River cruise, good choice of shops, plenty of parking.
Location is brilliant, less than 5 minute walk into Stratford Upon Avon town centre. Small but smart gym with plenty of equipment and a good sized swimming pool with sauna and steam room. Breakfast was lovely, good choice and all well cooked.
This is an absolute gem of a hotel. Right in the middle of Stratford upon Avon so easy access to everything. The hotel itself is exceptional- from the room design to the general ambiance and excellent value. Will definitely be returning!
The property is perfectly located for access to the high street of Stratford Upon Avon. There is also great access to walking trails and River Avon. This is one of the best dog friendly hotels I have ever been a guest of.
Room was a decent size, clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. Hotel is positioned well, with bus stop to Stratford Upon Avon to the right and Warwick to the left. Enjoyed our stay.
