Everything! So intentional in every detail. Astoundingly beautiful in a very integrated way with the environment. The silence in harmony with the voice of the wind.

Cacela Velha village is a 15-minute drive and is famed for its Arab fortress. The medieval town of Castro Marim is a 12-minute drive away. It is also 15 minutes’ drive from neighbouring Spain. Faro Airport is a 44-minute drive away from Monte do Malhão.

Booked in haste because our original B&B found builders had unexpectedly moved in to renovate their next-door neighbour! We felt sorry for the B&B's owners, but not for ourselves as we landed in this beautiful eco-hotel. Small (9 rooms) and intimate, run by a very kind and welcoming couple (Alexander & Susana) and their delightful friend Ana. A series of interesting rooms - from comfortable doubles to larger more luxurious rooms with well-fitted bathrooms and even a couple with hot tubs! Very comfortable (large) beds and good showers. Eco-friendly products. Set into a hilltop landscape, the building is modern and smart. It includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym area, plus an outside pool. Many places to sit and sunbathe or stay in the shade. Several hammocks :-) Lovely breakfast with local products and good coffee. Close to excellent restaurants. 15 minutes from the fabulous and less crowded Eastern Algarve beaches and the beauty of the Ria Formosa - 35 km of islands, channels and waterways. A garden of flowers, trees and herbs with oranges. Several goats and a donkey. In short, a quiet, peaceful place to retreat from noise, stress and work (although it does have decent wifi if you must be digital).

Location, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable, kitchen with all necessary utensils and delph, cutlery to prepare your own meals. Lovely lady, Luisa, has her salon there for waxing, massages, mani/pedi treatments, very good prices for an hotel. Nice balcony overlooking two streets so great for people watching. Spar supermarket five minutes walk away but very overpriced. Two more minutes away is another supermarket, bigger than Spar and much cheaper. Depending on what you're buying, almost half the price!

Good breakfast, room was big and they were great to leave me cake and champagne for my birthday. We were only passing through so did not get a chance to use their spa facilities. Staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful - gave us good recommendations for dinner.

We booked this because of the spa facilities as it was a winter break. Initially they charged 10E each to use the facility a lot of the equipment wasn’t working though although the pool sauna and steam room were but the majority of the time the various jacuzzis weren’t. A man came and fixed them and then they said the charge was 17.50E each which were never told about so we used it less then. The budget room was quite roomy.

Large comfy bedroom. Excellent spa included in price, jacuzzi, sauna, pool, robes, plus Gym. ("rip off, "chains, take note"). Good breakfast, plus the plates are warm for hot items. Very helpful staff, spotlessly clean in all areas. Well worth a visit.

Check in was very good. Spa and pool are good but not wonderful. Breakfast was just standard fare, warm/hot food kept in heated tureens. Good choice of fresh fruit and cold food. Could do better in my opinion!

The whole feel of the place, and it's huge. I didn't realize the spa center was part of the price, two jacuzzi, one sauna and a steam room (the stream room ceiling tiles were partially hanging off that was quite worrying, but fab besides this) staff he was fantastic, very helpful and accommodating, breakfast was plentiful and pretty good, I asked if they had bananas as they put oranges out and he got me one, just can't fault it, the pool is open 24 hours but not heated BUT HUGE , lovely stay
