A well-to-do suburb north of the city. It’s a swell place to relax with a morning stroll, especially along Bödekerstrasse; it’s a boulevard lined with historic facades and well-tended gardens. There are plenty of cute designer boutiques along Vossstrasse and Jakobistrasse. The southern part runs along the Eilenriede, Hannover’s city forest.

The capital and largest city of the state of Lower Saxony in Germany, Hannover went from ruling Great Britain to nearly being destroyed in the Second World War. Today, the city has been rebuilt retaining an abundance of its old-world charm and royal history. Its Old Town area, or ‘Altstadt’, is delightful to walk through, characterised by cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and ubiquitous red roofs. A symbol of the city, the New Town Hall is a magnificent structure showcasing eclectic architecture and crowned by an ornate dome. For panoramic views, you can ride to the top of the dome in a tilted lift, the only one of its kind in Europe.
Hannover is home to Maschsee, an expansive artificial lake offering water sports and opportunities for swimming, boating and cycling. If you’re after a more tranquil experience, you can simply stroll around the park or stop for a bite at one of the many surrounding cafes and bars. Also worth a visit are the Herrenhausen Gardens – sprawling baroque gardens with fountains, manicured lawns and an artsy grotto. During summer, the gardens come alive with plenty of festivals and fireworks.
When travelling with little ones, Hannover Adventure Zoo will take you around the world with themed zones showcasing hundreds of species in their natural habitat – from Africa to Australia. For a dose of culture, you can take in a sizeable collection of modern art at the Sprengel Museum or journey into the city’s past at Hannover History Museum.

Hannover is a great place!
24 July 2018
Hannover is a great place! simple and friendly folks and the place is awesome if you want to have a glimpse of past. I stayed in Hotel Flora which is a 8 minute walk to the central station and I must say I chose the right hotel! It is very easy to get around the places in Hannover I really enjoyed walking around and taking photos of the historical places there. Love the restos and bar also! I will come back here!

Regrettably, I had time only to visit the very fine Sprengel Museum before leaving, so was not able to see all the city had to offer. However, the Landesmuseum, Historisches Museum, Herrenhäuser Gärten and Berggarten should be explored.

The area around the old Ratshouse with its park and lake is very nice and the old city with the cathedral and square very pleasant. Easy access by train from the hotel with a 30 minute ride. (The station is close to the hotel, through the shopping centre).
For some reason the whole city center looked super sketchy.

For some reason the whole city center looked super sketchy. Junkies everywhere, prostitutes on the streets, drug needles being sold on the street, trash everywhere, tons of homeless people. This is one city I will never ever be visiting again.

We followed the Red floorline which allow us see most of the city in 6 hours, it was a great experience. During the walk we discovered a good coffee shops, restaurant. One of the favorit during this walk that we took a boat for a tour around the Maschpark lake, it was great, I really enjoy it with my wife
