This area was known historically as an artists’ quarter. Nowadays, white-stuccoed, -Regency-style houses line its streets, where a new industry of boutique hotels and cocktail bars is taking root. St. James Street is its main thoroughfare, brimming with eateries – try Red Roaster Coffee House for your morning pick-me-up.

Brighton City Centre
In the city centre
Brighton’s centre has an abundance of pubs, eateries, clubs and cinemas. Check out London Road for its eclectic shops and catch a flick at the Duke of York Cinema (the UK’s oldest). Then walk further along to the Open Market for gourmet food and fashion. For small art galleries and independent shops, head to quirky, friendly North Laine.

Home to one of the UK's most charming coastal areas, the neighbouring communities of Brighton & Hove combine to offer a quintessential English seaside experience. Aside from the beaches and an attraction-packed pier, Brighton's Royal Pavilion is the standout attraction – a lavish 19th-century palace which sums up the city's flair for flamboyance.
A wander down The Lanes is well worth your time, with a huge variety of independent shops, restaurants and record stores huddled together along the area's small streets. Brighton is also home to Europe's largest marina, with over two kilometres of big-name boutique shops, water sports options and Brighton's very own Hollywood-esque Walk of Fame. For a unique way to reach the marina, hop aboard the Volks Electric Railway – the oldest of its kind in the world.
During warmer weather, Brighton Beach is the place to be – with troops of tourists and locals laying their towels on its pebbled shores. Getting around is easy, with an extensive bus network running throughout the city and all-day tickets (known as CitySavers) available.

Brighton is a lovely town, from my experience people have been welcoming and kind. The beryl bikes system makes it easy to move around the city. They have a big queer community, which is, I believe, very nice and enjoyable and makes the experience super safe for any queer folks. Although, be aware that it smells like grass quite often. The pavilion and the museum are great. Fish and chips are cheap and good, which is nice. Be careful around the beach tho, the seagulls and pigeons are quite ravenous and brazen, they'll snatch your food right out of your hands if you're not careful. Lots of little art galleries along the beach, which is quite lovely.
We have been to Brighton lots of times before.

We have been to Brighton lots of times before. We revisited the Pavilion which was excellent. We had fish and chips on the pier also good. It was the school holidays so the shopping area was very busy. As we are pensioners we made full use of our bus passes on the excellent bus service travelling several times between hove, Brighton and Worthing. We out out at an excellent Persian restaurant called Shiraz in Hove.
Great beaches, perfect for relaxing on.

Great beaches, perfect for relaxing on. Shops are great and I loved wandering around and exploring the local area, the lanes and Brighton Pier. Amazing selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. If you’re looking for delicious pizza, Al Forno’s is amazing! Freshly made and super friendly staff! I walked everywhere during my visit but there are plenty of buses if you need to get around. Lots of attractions such as the sealife centre, zip line etc.

I'm a regular visitor, the live music is the main attraction for me with many great venues. Superb pub culture and selection. Then in the summer months nothing better than a lazy day on the naturist beach, in the evening a few drinks and some great food in the many restaurants and cafes. Best place ever for people watching.

If you are looking for the old type of guest houses, this is the place. The house is old and looks old, some of the doors have space under so anyone can fit anything inside easily. The room had traces of water infiltrations on the wall, the toilet seat was yellow in Room 8 looking as if it hasn't been changed in years. The room is little with minimal space to move. Sufficient for one night but wouldn't book again. Perhaps if they would refurbish the place. Thank you for trying.

Brighton , is an interesting town , however it’s a bit run down and littered . It could do with a thorough clean and more bins should be available to the public. I would also suggest families check the bathrooms of restaurants before ordering food . My favourite restaurant to visit is Casa don carlos and I go there everytime I visit Brighton . Fab Tapas restaurant.
