London's inherent uniqueness and mix of cultures have made it one of the most visited cities in the world. Its diverse bundle of boroughs are often like mini cities in their own right, with each one offering something different to the last.
London's iconic skyline is an eclectic combination of instantly recognisable landmarks, from the historic Tower of London to the ultra-modern skyscrapers of The Shard and 20 Fenchurch (better known as 'The Walkie-Talkie'). A walk through the ‘Square Mile’ immerses you in the original Roman settlement, with parts of the ancient defensive wall still visible. You'll also find some of the London's cosiest (and oldest) pubs around there, such as Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, a former haunt of Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.
For lovers of the arts, look no further than the world-class theatres of London's West End and the live music venues of Camden, Soho and Shoreditch. You'll also find endless galleries and museums dotted around, such as the free-to-visit British Museum, Natural History Museum and the National Gallery.
Amongst all the impressive architecture and endless points of interest, it's easy to forget how green London is. 47% of the city is made up of public green space, including 3,000 parks. The most popular spots include Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Green Park, but it's worth venturing out to places like Richmond where you can walk amongst roaming wild deer.
London is served by several major airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted, Luton and Southend. Travel is made easy by the extensive public transport links, as well as private coach services.

Nice city to discover.
8 May 2024
Nice city to discover. Too crowded with tourists to have a quick access to some popular attractions. Except if you start early in the morning with a tight schedule, 4 days is too short for a first visit. Prices are high for nearly everything.
The most fascinating city, best experienced by walking.

The most fascinating city, best experienced by walking. So much to see and appreciate. A polite and friendly city, charming and hospitable but has never overcome the loss of all those pubs, the scenes of the wittiest and most stimulating conversation you would ever hear. Coffee shops will never make up for that loss. The proliferation of mobile phones has spelled the end of intelligent conversation. We are the poorer for them !

6 May 2024
I spent a total of 8 days in London. We went all over- I came with a friend on her first trip, so we hit a lot of the the classic highlights. That's why being near a tube station can be key - it makes getting around the City- and getting back to rest when you're exhausted so important. The markets are fun and amazing!

London is a big booming cosmopolitan city, visited lots of times to visit the numerous attractions and shows. Used the London bus system to get around the city using a bus pass, much more enjoyable than using the tube as you can observe what is going on throughout the city e.g. the buildings/sites and attractions. Too many restaurants and cuisines to choose from it is down to individual tastes. Avoid London if you do not like hustle and bustle, but we love it.

6 May 2024
They were doing construction on one line of the underground which meant alternate routes and more time in transit, but other than that it was great. So much to see and so much history - just be prepared for crowds in the popular areas at all times.
A lot of places to see.
6 May 2024
A lot of places to see. Many good restaurants. We were lucky to have a good weather. It was warm and sunny. It is easy to take a tube, but we walked a lot too. Comfortable shoes are a must! The Tower of London is a place to see. Book your tickets early, preferably for early morning.
