About London

Including tips for the best time to visit London

London's inherent uniqueness and mix of cultures have made it one of the most visited cities in the world. Its diverse bundle of boroughs are often like mini cities in their own right, with each one offering something different to the last.

London's iconic skyline is an eclectic combination of instantly recognisable landmarks, from the historic Tower of London to the ultra-modern skyscrapers of The Shard and 20 Fenchurch (better known as 'The Walkie-Talkie'). A walk through the ‘Square Mile’ immerses you in the original Roman settlement, with parts of the ancient defensive wall still visible. You'll also find some of the London's cosiest (and oldest) pubs around there, such as Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, a former haunt of Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.

For lovers of the arts, look no further than the world-class theatres of London's West End and the live music venues of Camden, Soho and Shoreditch. You'll also find endless galleries and museums dotted around, such as the free-to-visit British Museum, Natural History Museum and the National Gallery.

Amongst all the impressive architecture and endless points of interest, it's easy to forget how green London is. 47% of the city is made up of public green space, including 3,000 parks. The most popular spots include Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Green Park, but it's worth venturing out to places like Richmond where you can walk amongst roaming wild deer.

London is served by several major airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted, Luton and Southend. Travel is made easy by the extensive public transport links, as well as private coach services.

This hotel is very close of train(tube) and buses, very close to restaurants, coffees and a few steps of supermarkets. Train and buses taking to the main tourist attractions. Just a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Camden is a great vibrant place for shops and food as well as London culture. We booked a last minute gig at Green Note in Camden, well worth a visit for the evening. Shopping at Covent Garden plus a west end show.

So easy to get around using public transport. Street signs are so well marked and every neighborhood is just gorgeous. Food options abound for all budgets and for all cultures! Incredible history blended with modern cleanliness, safety, and inclusion!

Love London.

28 March 2024

Love London. I have been many times and done all the sights. This time we went up Horizon 22, the views of London are beautiful and even better that it is free to enter (though need to book, unless there may be some walk ins available on the day). Also watched England V Belgium at Wembley which was a great experience to be there in the atmosphere Will return to London again and explore around Greenwich next time a bit more.

Perhaps the best City in the World, if not one of them.

28 March 2024

Perhaps the best City in the World, if not one of them. Come for the Cosmopolitan flavour, the people, the food, the sense of anyone belongs here. You really don't have enough time to explore all of London. There's so much to do. Get Lost In The City and wonder at where you got lost. Easy to make friends at meet people, especially if you fancy a Pint and good Cultural food from around the World.

London to us travelling from Ireland is a Theatre perfect location. We planned a three night stay of which two were at the theatre and the third a lovely dinner. Our hotel was located in Covent Garden which is our favourite location and breakfast there a must. Looking forward to our next trip.
