Just a 30-minute train ride from London, the riverside city of Windsor is famed for its Royal associations and rich history. Encompassed by the beautiful Berkshire countryside, it’s filled with things to see and do.
Begin your history tour of the city at the iconic Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world. As well as being the Queen’s preferred weekend retreat, it’s been home to numerous monarchs for almost 1,000 years. Inside, you can observe ornate furniture, elaborate china and famous paintings hanging in the various state apartments. You can also visit St. George’s Chapel where Harry and Meghan had their wedding ceremony. If you visit on a Thursday or Saturday, you might even be lucky enough to witness the Changing the Guard ceremony. Across the river, you’ll find the reputable public school of Eton College, where Prince William and Harry studied. Wander down Windsor’s charming High Street and you’ll discover the historic Guildhall building constructed by Sir Christopher Wren and the Grade II-listed St. John the Baptist Church.
Just outside the city centre is LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, filled with fun for kids and nostalgic grown-ups looking to reconnect with their childhood. This theme park is packed with interactive rides, live shows and incredibly detailed LEGO models of landmarks from around the world. It’s also worth exploring some of Windor’s flora-filled sights such as Windsor Great Park and The Savill Garden.

You don’t need much time in Windsor as the only main attraction is the castle. We did lots of walking around the town and went in the castle. On our second day we struggled to find something else to do. But I would recommend the duck tour ! Excellent service and hospitality. Very educational and a great hour out.

Windsor is a lovely town, easy to navigate around , has 2 railway stations with easy access to London. Ideal place to stay if going to Twickenham for the Rugby. Lots of shops, pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes. A must see is of course St George’s Chapel and Windsor Castle, beautiful walks within the grounds and the Long Walk. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you are given a real treat of seeing the parade of changing of the guard a fabulous spectacle.
We had a day at legoland and a morning at Windsor Castle.

We had a day at legoland and a morning at Windsor Castle. We ate out in Windsor both nights and enjoyed the restaurants we visited. There was plenty of choice. We could have had another couple of days and explored more.

Everything was close to the property, eateries ,shops,lots of walking if you enjoy walking, coffee shops, the Long Walk, Eton and walking along the river Thames. Also good bus connections to Legoland outside the Castle. Can’t say there was anything we didn’t like.

Windsor is such a lovely town. Even though it seems crowned with tourists during day time but evening and dinner time was quite calm up. We went in Febuary so the sun set so fast people tend to stay in the hotel. we had Nando's chicken which is really good. The Macdonal hotel we were staying located in great location, nice staff, and nice accomodation. There are many more places to visit not just the Windsor Castle. This town has many more to offer. If you love historical but with city vibes. Windsor is a good choice.
There is nothing to dislike about Windsor.

There is nothing to dislike about Windsor. It is packed full of history including not only the castle but also The Long Walk, Windsor Great Park, the shortest street in England and centuries old pubs. There are an array of good eateries and plenty of shops.
