Zhongzheng District
0.5 miles from city centre
Those courting culture will find much to admire in Zhongzheng. Flanked by museums, malls, elite schools, and national theatres, the area is two parts history, one part shopping. It’s also home to the President’s chamber and a beehive of other offices. Adored by the deep and the deeply consumerist, you won’t be the only one besotted by these streets.

Fly into this airport district. On the city outskirts, most land in Songshan for the Taipei Arena’s attractions. After a concert or sporting event, follow the red lights to Rahoe Night Market. Like any Taipei night market, this one will surely leave you stuffed from meats and millions of flavours. We recommend the stinky tofu. It tastes better than it smells!

Hot springs, hot springs, and more hot springs. Tourists and locals love to let their hair down in Beitou. Just a stone’s throw from the city, pleasure-seekers should opt in. Follow the rising steam. The richest district in Taipei is also the greenest. Da’an Park is dubbed the “Lung of Taipei” and it's the perfect place to stretch your legs – especially if you’ve just come from Yongkang Street. The edible avenue presents a slew of dumplings, hot pots, potstickers and even a gourmet coffee stand whose beans are harvested from the dung of civets!

Taipei has carved out its place as one of the world’s best countries for street food. From quick snacks to heavy meals, this city offers a plethora of food choices that will make you come back for more. The braised pork rice bowl is another must-have.

Although the city got cleaned up and modernized a lot, it still has the magic it had around the millenium. It;s a bit like Tokyo and Seoul but Taipei has that perfect vibe of hard work, fun and tollerance that you cannot find elsewhere...
First visit and love love love Taipei.

First visit and love love love Taipei. Friendly locals - got lost in a lane and a guy asked me to follow him to the main road. Even my rubbish Mandarin got me through as most people had pretty good English. Clean, safe and nice vibes!

Stayed 8 nights in Taipei did not travel out due to the earthquake situation. Taipei's Night Markets are over rated. I have been to 6 different Night Market they practically sell the same kind of food and not necessary as tasty as some of the You Tubers would like you to believed. There are better tasting stores than others but nothing really to scream about. But I loved their Pineapple super sweet eat it everyday . It is fairly easy to travel around the city in public transport.. I have been to Yehliu, Houtong, Yangmingshan National Park.,Jiufen ,Shifen Waterfall and Pingxi Sky Lantern. Fisherman Wharf and Keelung for seafood. Really wanted to experience Taiwan's unique Night Market Culture but was very disappointed.

MRT and high-speed railway are very developed in this city. The cost is cheap and you can go to almost every destination. People are friendly and willing to help. City roads and stations are cleaned. Only food, perhaps it's not suitable for someone like the healthy style because a majority of them are oily.

9 April 2024
Several times during my short stay people went well out of their way to help me. One on occasion, an older lady who was getting her hair done in the salon where I got a hair cut left her chair walked me down the steps of the shop and out into the street and about 20 yards to an intersection to ensure I did not get lost and found my destination. Taipei Taiwanese during the days I spent there seemed to be a fine people, their city clean and safer than many US large cities. I don't think they will like mainland China coming in and taking over. I visited a couple of great temples and had great suppers.
