As one of South Carolina’s most visited regions, Myrtle Beach attracts around 20 million holidaymakers a year with its sandy beaches, restaurants and golf courses. The area's subtropical climate welcomes spring breakers, retirees and everyone in between to let loose, relax and have fun.
The first known settlers of Myrtle Beach were the native Waccamaw tribe, who cultivated the land for centuries. Following the arrival of European colonials, tobacco plantations and farming saw the region prosper, before the introduction of the railroad in the 19th century brought the influence of new cultures and technology. It wasn't until 1900 that a competition was held to give the city its name. The winner chose ‘Myrtle Beach’, after a shrub common to the area.
The biggest draw of Myrtle Beach is its 100-kilometre stretch of white-sand beaches known as the ‘Grand Strand’, where locals and tourists flock daily for relaxation, parties and volleyball. Further along the promenade, you’ll find the Garden City Pier and the Skywheel where you can appreciate picturesque views of the city.
Myrtle Beach is home to the Tanger Outlets, one of South Carolina’s biggest shopping malls where you’ll find over 100 household names. Alternatively, the Broadway at the Beach and the Market Common offer boutique shopping, restaurants and evening entertainment with a warm family vibe.

Our first time visiting.

Our first time visiting. Overall experience was great! People were nice and friendly. We stayed at the resort at the Embassy suite most of the time. It has a nice big new pool and a kids pool with slides. Nearby restaurants were excellent!!
This was the perfect time of year.

This was the perfect time of year. The resort was not crowded with easy parking. There were lots of restaurants for any tastes you have.Shopping was readily available.Best of all the beach was so accessible. It wasn't warm enough to swim but was great for strolling.
Really like Myrtle Beach.

Really like Myrtle Beach. Sunrise and sunset were awesome. Walking the beach we found shark teeth, baby turtles and even a baby octopus. Plenty of places to eat but do your research. Use your GPS to get around since local traffic can be frustrating. Play mini golf at Mt. Altanticus.
Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved the rooms.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved the rooms. The view was everything . The tvs could be updated ones but I felt like home away from home 🏡. I was nervous after seeing some of the reviews but I'm glad I gave it a shot

We visit Myrtle Beach often.
13 April 2024
We visit Myrtle Beach often. We love the beach, restaurant, and activities in the area. You can find just about anything to do, and much if it free We love to walk through Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the beach. Go to the Hangout for free music. Walking the beach is wonderful. Any type of restaurant you would like priced low to high. Driving is easy but do expect traffic during high season. Eveything is close, grocery stores, Walmart, and beach supply stores.
