About San Antonio

Including tips for the best time to visit San Antonio

Historical landmarks, modern attractions and cultural offerings are just a few of the many reasons that make San Antonio a popular place to visit in Texas, USA.

San Antonio is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. At The Alamo – a former Spanish mission and the site of a historic battle in 1836 – you can learn about the history of Texas Revolution through interactive displays and guided tours. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is spread across a large area that comprises four missions established by Spanish Catholic priests in the 18th century. Four out of the five original missions still remain and you can explore their churches, compounds and other structures.

On your San Antonio holiday, set aside some time to visit the River Walk. This famous promenade along the San Antonio River is lined with shops, restaurants, museums and scenic nature spots. Booking.

28 September 2022

Booking.com completly messed up our reservations. Marriot didn't even have a reservation for us when we arrived. Marriot found a room for us, charged us full price for the room plus an additional $65.00 for something no one can figure out what for. Booking also charged us the full reservation price after confriming that they had changed our reservation date and sent a confirmation email. Marriot has opened up a investigation case on the entire messed up situation. The facility was excellent, the water park was outstanding. The entire reservation process just plain sucked!

San Antonio is awesome. Don't use Booking.com They failed to follow through with my reservation even though I had a confirmation email/number. Second time Booking.com has done this to me, and the last!

There are plenty of activities to do in San Antonio.

There are plenty of activities to do in San Antonio. We were mainly in town for a concert but in our spare time went and walked around the river walk and tried different restaurants, Rosario’s was really good! I liked that our hotel was convenient to walk around versus driving and having to find a place to park. Plus they have a bus system that for a day pass was I believe less than $3. And you can buy them when you get on the bus. We’ve been before and visited Seaworld and Aquatica, The Alamo and a couple museums.

This was a business trip, but I had some time to visit the city of San Antonio. The river-walk was interesting, primarily shops to sell souvenirs and restaurants with numerous bars, more of a party situation. Food was acceptable, nothing great, bars were over-priced offering drinks with souvenir glasses. After Labor Day, Six-Flags and Sea-world are only open on weekends, but the Alamo is open every day. Unfortunately during my visit, the Alamo visitor center was under construction. A lot of stores sell the same items made in China with San Antonio's name.
