FAQs about hotels in Bucharest

Where Modern Meets Old

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.

Undergoing constant modernisation processes, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city centre and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable-stayed bridge, and the City Gate Towers.

Whilst admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 330,000 m². Make sure you admire the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!

To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!

Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 18 km from the city centre, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!

The city offers something for everyone!

The city offers something for everyone! Be careful where you stay. Public transport is great but it can be useful to have a rental car. It can be really great to combine pleasure with personal business. I found a superb dental clinic, 5 star with everything in house but for a fraction of the cost. In-house CT, microscopic surgery and high quality implants. Afterwards go to the Therme next to the airport and have a day of leisure with or without children!

Was a good city to see the eastern Europe, historical rural and modern areas are all together around the city. Dmitrie Gustie museum was the best reflecting the traditional Romanian houses. Old town and if you have chance trips to Transilvania is highly recommended.

Check what needs to be booked a day in advance (parliament building) and what doesn't. Do your research on what you want to do, you can probably wrap it all up quite quickly, clothes shopping isn't great so if you over estimate the length of stay there's nothing to do (though you can book day trips to Bulgaria or Thermae etc). Sera Eden (non-Romanian food) and Caru' Cu'Bere (Romanian food) were great for food. It is very easy to walk everywhere.

    Bucharest is...ok.

Bucharest is...ok. It's efficient, pretty enough, and I have no regrets about going. But it's not wildly spectacular or anything. You have to drive a couple hours out into the countryside if you want to do any nice hikes or go to the beach. It's also not especially cheap. Not crazy expensive, either. Just...ok.

I saw Bucharest 22 years ago, it was nice, but somehow sad in the same time. It's nowadays a vibrant city blooming. It's nice to see the Romanians have handled their destiny with pride. When center was mostly empty of commercial activities, it's now filled with everything catching the eye. Bookstores, furniture's, design, clothes shop.. A lots of bars and restaurants, artistic places to experience. A lot of efforts have been done in restoring the Innercity and improving parks. It's easy to wander everywhere with good metro/tram/bus connectivity, to experience a cleaving mix between modernism and remains of its komi past. It has still a lot of contrasts, life's not easy for everyone. It delivers a colorful scene always steaming during the week.

We really liked the fact that the hotel has a restaurant in the garden called "Toca", so you could drink coffee at any time. Also, the room was big enough, and had lots of space for your personal stuff. The bathroom was big, too, with warm water all day. The receptionist was very helpful and guided us about Bucharest. The hotel is near a tram station which has frequent routes and you can go to Old Town very easy.

There were only a few things that we liked. The fact that the hotel was close to the Old Town and other attractions. We appreciated that although the breakfast was served on the terrace, it had heaters and the food was ok, nothing special. Our first impression was a good one but soon after it turned into a horror movie.
