We went there just at the beginning of the season, and we were the only guests in the (quite a big) hotel. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was abundant and good which was quite surprising given that we were alone.

The quiet and remote countryside location, view of the mountains, close to the fjord and beach. The property and staff are wonderful. I would stay here again the next time I visit the Westfjords.

This is a hidden gem in heart of Flateyri. We spent there a romantic New Years Eve and we were more than amazed by this beautful experience. It is a family run bookstore/accommodation business for decades with nicely preserved antique interior. Host gave us a quick tour in the building. Kitchen was full of kitchenware, spices, sweets and food for breakfast. Lots of books, boardgames, guitar to play and so on. This is one of 2 best places in Vestfirdir for a romantic stay.
Providing mountain views, Guesthouse at Dynjandi Falls in Bíldudalur provides accommodation, a private beach area, a terrace and a shared lounge.

What a fantastic place! A beautiful, secluded location in a valley in the West Fjords of Iceland.
I would have loved to stay here longer but could only stay for one night.
This house has so much atmosphere! I was told it is over 100 years old.
Very friendly staff and had some great conversations with Páll.

The room was spacious, so was the bed, and the view was beautiful. Even though the bathroom was a common area, it was very clean. The breakfast was complete and satisfying.

Small and quite town. Not sure about any other activities but I visited as I wanted to travel on road 622. Town has one N1 fuel station which also has food options. Apart from that nothing much in the town as such.

We had some wonderful waffles at Simbahöllin café but they close way too early on weekdays (6pm) during the high season in Iceland. The weather was wonderful and we sat outside the closed café and played some cards, it would have been perfect to buy some coffee or even beer to enjoy in the evening sun. There are not many options for dinner, there's a restaurant at Sandfell which I did not find appealing and then there's only the gas station with hot dogs etc.
The town went into kind of a "hibernation mode" in the evening with only a few people going out for a bike ride. I think Simbahöllin café would be a big hit if they had longer opening hours - great location and great potential! Sad that they only offer waffles and soup (which was finished when we went there at 5pm).
