I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in many countries this was equal to any of them. Highly recommend would definitely stay there again. The breakfast was excellent if you left hungry shame on you.

Clean, surprisingly quiet (given the A19 runs passed the property) and the staff were all excellent.

The perfect location if you're driving and visiting both The Forbidden Corner and York. Comfortable spacious room, off-street parking, and a nice bar/restaurant in a quiet village. Even after paying for petrol for the drive to/from York and paying for parking at the ASDA at Layerthorpe (£7.62 for the whole day, online booking), you'll still be way ahead compared to York hotel prices and have a nice place to come back to.
