Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Singapore1) on arrival had to go and look for concierge but no one at the desk . Than one ‘older staff’ shouting out to younger staff to go do his job. I mean it’s not a good impression at all 2) the shower is bad. Water pressure is weak but the worst thing is that the faucet does not give proper water heating control . It swings from very hot to very cold with just a tiny adjustment n sometimes the hot water just turned cold . Very disagreeable especially in cold winter 3) front desk staff is rather monotonous and unsmiling hotel does not make one feel welcomed. Low sense of hospitality 4) personally feel the Chinese new year decor right after the entrance to be very untasteful , there is no necessity to occupy such huge space with tacky decorations and in a position that is so central 5) reception area looks really dated, dark n unwelcoming
Nice wide window, comfortable bed bigger than most, n good size work table that is not parked against the wall. Like the breakfast area with its open atrium n breakfast staff is nice . Breakfast spread is decent . Has a lobby seating area . Has good Chinese restaurants within the hotel. Chose it for its location.

United KingdomIt is a relatively old 5 star old in shanghai, it was Hilton before, probably the first ever 5 star hotel opened in shanghai in the late 80s. It was originally well built and with many facilities. However it is now showing wears and tears, and some features are becoming a bit old fashioned nowadays, e.g. the rooms are quite generous but the bathrooms are relatively small in proportion, and it still uses shower curtains on top of the bathtub! I smelled a bit of the damp/drainage smell in the bathroom and I raised it to the staff, but she told me that it was the same with all rooms and she would just spray some air fresher for me. The breakfast was quite boring and very bland taste, from a 5 star standard. Everyday is the same choices of buffet with majority Chinese food. The front desk staffs are polite but lots of things are self-service these days. The first night I went back really late so missed restaurants, there was very limited choices for room service. So I ordered take-away and when it arrived, I needed to physically go down 20 some floors and got out of the main entrance to pick up my food on a side table in the cold. A lot of hotels now uses cute robots to deliver takeaways so the guests could stay in the room for comfort. Another day I wanted to deliver some document to a place in town by biker/scooter, the concierge told me to order it myself on some app that I needed to download. Again, when I stayed in a different 4 star hotel they offered to help me straightaway. So I think the overall service has come down a notch since Kun Lun taking over from Hilton.
Location is in nice - on edge of elegant french concession, and not too far from Jing An Temple shopping area and Nan Jin Road. There is a metro entrance next to it even though it is not a main one. The room is relatively generous in size and the bed is very comfy. It has quite a few in house restaurants and many facilities, such as gym, pool, tennis court.

SingaporeMy room was right next to the elevator and you could hear it running which was quite disturbing especially in the morning hours. The minibar was empty, there could be a good selection of drinks and snacks there. The style of the room is quite old (yet clean).
Great location of the hotel, easy to walk around in the neighbourhood or take the subway. Rooms are large and clean, bed is very comfortable. Lavish breakfast is served in the restaurant both with Chinese and Western food and staff is kind and helpful. The Xmas market is very cute in the lobby area.
