How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There was no fridge in the room, and no kettle and tea, but it’s just minor things
Fresh and clean room, pretty big and the beds were comfortable to sleep. The bathroom was clean and we found there everything we needed like shampoos, shower gel, body lotions, and much more. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and kind.

Actually, nothing. Maybe breakfast buffet longer catered, specifically in the weekend. But staff were kind enough to provide missing out items close to the time limit.
Very good value for money, staff very kind and welcoming. Location very close to Freiburg and Strasbourg if you’re looking for a stay in between. The excellent restaurant, in a rustic style, offers local specialties without having you to drive.

Just to mention something, the WiFi did not arrive to our room, but I could live with that.
Super cozy hotel with fully renovated room. The restaurant is fantastic with homemade food. The owner was lovely with me and my girls and made us feel like at home. We stayed there overnight on a trip to Germany but would definitely come back.

No hot water this morning. The main blinds didn’t work. No air conditioning, elevator or tea/coffee in the room. No kettle or coffee machine. Just bottled water in the room. No snacks. No fridge or mini bar. Given all of this, we thought the room was very overpriced (210 euros).
Great restaurant and good breakfast. Lots of board games to play with. A very spacious room.

Only comment we had was that it was a bit warm in the rooms.
Very friendly staff and nice, clean and spacious rooms. we loved the shower. We were traveling through, however in hindsight would have loved to stay longer. nice wine region and beautiful surroundings.

Wifi connection was slow.
We liked hospitality, wine and food. Also, all our needs were met. Rooms were enough big and very clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is very generous and everyone can find something to eat. We will be comming back in future for sure. Also, we had a room facing the street but we didn't have any problems with noise even with opened windows and church bells.

There was not much food left at breakfast when we arrived and nothing was refilled. The restaurant was also no open in the evening when it said it would be, so we had nowhere to eat dinner.
The rooms are very nice and so is the shower.

The parking lot was difficult to get in and out of, mainly because the van owned by the hotel was parked right at the entrance/exit. Some parking spaces were situated at right angles to each other, making it difficult to park without blocking another vehicle.
Our room was spacious and clean. It was modern and updated, but the common areas like the lobby and restaurant had an "old-world" charm. The weather was somewhat warm for mid-October, but the air conditioning in the room was very good. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had excellent food.

Some of the staff was rude. I checked out around 12.30am and then was sitting in the lobby with my not that big luggage waiting for & deciding how do I go to the town. It is a very common practice based on my experience travelling around the world last 10 years. After about 40 mins a woman approached talking to me in German with an upset look. I did not understand anything and then a man came and told me in English, in a quite rude form, that I need to leave as I have already checked out. At least they could tell me that nicely as I would understood. It is a relatively remote place with bad transport on Sunday (tram is not working) so they should have taken this into account. I had to wait under the sun outside to sort out transport to Freiburg. I had an issue with check in too as the hotel doors were closed (it was mid day) and I had find their number and call them.
Overall the hotel & room was fine. The room was well equipped and clean, and the size was decent.
