Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandA little cramped for space in room & bathroom. No lift although staff were on hand to help with carrying luggage which was appreciated.
Great location to Paddington Station, a 3 minute walk. Staff particularly friendly and helpful in suggestions of where to eat.

AustraliaI only had an overnight stay and would not stay for an extended period as the room was very small without a chair or table. As an older terrace, there is no lift. The wifi speed was dreadful and in these days this is unacceptable. It was the last day of an 8-week tour and all other hotels either had good or excellent wifi. The management need to address this promptly. I stayed partly for reasons of nostalgia as I had stayed here for a week over 30 years ago, but the cost was one of the highest for the 8-week tour, yet the hotel was one of the most basic. Nevertheless it was quite competitive in London at the moment as prices have escalated to ridiculous levels. I fear it will not be a location for many future tours.
The location is the great plus for this hotel as it is within minutes of Paddington Station. The staff are both friendly and helpful, taking my bags to my room when it was ready after storing them for me for an hour without charge until check-in time. The bed was comfortable and the bedside lamp with the old and new USB ports facilitated charging of devices. The modular bathroom/toilet was very compact, but served its purpose and was clean and well-maintained. The window overlooking Norfolk Gardens afforded a pleasant view and the area is generally quiet near the hotel.

United KingdomOn arrival we were upgraded to a family room. Having just got into bed there was a knock of the door and a clearly embarrassed receptionist asked if we could possibly move to another room as a family with young children had just arrived. We did move but it was not ideal as we'd been traveling all day and by this time it was after midnight. No offer of any reduction for inconvenience.
Location, reception and comfort all good. Some people have complained about the rumble of the passing tube trains but we didn't find this to be a problem. Ideal for a one night stay if you're using Paddington station.

United KingdomA lot of stairs and no lift. Tiny bathroom but had everything needed so perfectly ok for me as a solo occupant
Very clean and comfortable for a good sleep before onward travel. Very convenient location for station. Tea, coffee, kettle, hairdryer & iron all in room. Plenty of plug sockets with usb port for charging devices. Also, friendly, helpful staff.

South AfricaTiny bathroom and the shower was difficult to adjust, either freezing cold or boiling hot.
The staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The room was clean and neat, street (park) facing. The area is noisy during the night, more the neighbourhood than the hotel's fault. The bathroom was tiny, I'm 6ft 1in so the shower was a tight squeeze.

CanadaThe single room was TINY-more like a pod. Couldnt open suitcase in room without putting it on bed, and it had to stand up while i was on the bed. Deadbolt on room door not working. Satellite TV connections not set up properly therefore not working despite being new. No hairdryer, alarm clock or phone in room as advertised.(not a deal breaker) Hotel also under renovation so stairs covered in plastic making it slippery for guests, and workers there from 10 am till supposedly 6 pm (which went later)
Front desk people very helpful and friendly. Staff member carried my bag up and down to my room on the 5th floor. WiFi was great, bed was comfy, and bonus mini fridge in room..

United KingdomI had to walk up to the top floor past floors of rooms which are being renovated. As a result the area was dusty and looked very bad with doors with no handles and stuff lying around. The walls between rooms were very thin so could hear everything, and the bathroom they had fitted was into the original wardrobe space, so extremely small. Anyone tall or overweight would really struggle to get into the bathroom. No wardrobe.
The room had been newly renovated, so it was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were welcoming also

United KingdomRoom was newly created single (tiny) on 4th floor. No lift so with my health conditions was not ideal. Room was clean and freshly decorated but no wardrobe, bedside table, lamp or phone. OK for 1 or 2 nights, just to sleep. Did have nice shower room.
The location was perfect. Literally took 5 minutes to step off the train and walk to front door. The staff were the most helpful and friendly people i've come across in a city hotel. Can't praise them highly enough.

CanadaRooms are small compared to N. American hotels, but that is to be expected for London. Try a Superior room for a bit more space. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
The staff here is very helpful. Also, they will take your luggage to your room, so not having a lift is not as big a problem as with other hotels. Though breakfast is not served, there are many excellent places to eat within half a block (try Lite Bite for an excellent breakfast). Having Norfolk Square right in front provides a feeling of space and calm in spite of being 5 minutes from Paddington Station. Tour buses also stop at the end of the block. An excellent base for exploring London.

United KingdomShower was a little unclean, as well as the overflow in the sink. Bed seemed to be on a slant which was a little disorienting in the night! Wasn't advised that bin collection day was on Monday so being on the ground floor at the front, I was woken with bin lorry noises and lights - at 3am!
