Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsWe were only staying one night, and were informed at 21:30 that there would not be any electricity the next morning due to maintenance in the street! This caused us a bit of a panic, which was for nothing because the power never went out before we checked out. There were also no instructions on how to check-out, so just put the key back in the box. I also requested an invoice and have still not received it. So communication from the host could be much better.
Nice spacious apartment in the center of town.

United KingdomGreat apartment right in the centre of Groningen. Beautifully furnished, very quiet, good wifi. About 100 meters from Interparking Centrum (I think we paid 22 euros for 24 hours) and surrounded by lots of bars, shops and restaurants.

United KingdomThe one-bedroom apartment was above a wine bar. The bar and the apartment are run by completely separate people, but the music and the sound of people talking from the bar came up through the floor of the apartment. The bar is open until 23:00 hours on Thursday night and until midnight on Friday and Saturday night. The music was on until the last people left at 1.30 am on Friday night! It was a real shame, as the people who run the apartments cannot control this and I really loved the apartment - I just wasn't a fan of the noise underneath. The two-bedroom apartments upstairs will be absolutely fine and free from noise, I think.
The one-bedroom apartment on the first floor was lovely - really comfortable with high quality furnishings, excellent shower and good kitchen area. The bed was really comfortable and the apartment had everything we needed for a one-week stay in Groningen.. It was 5 minutes' walk from the railway station and a couple of minutes' walk in to the city centre. Groningen is a fantastic city with lots of great museums, restaurants and things to see - and for running fans, a Parkrun!

IrelandWhile the location is central is just metres away from the red light street. It didn't bother us but if you've a younger family it's worth bearing in mind. The sofa bed isn't comfortable at all but the massive separate sofa makes up for that. Finally the bed linen is a bit worn but not the end of the world.
Location was very central and just minutes from the many bars, restaurants and the famous farmers market. Very spacious living area. In reality this apartment could fit four as the sofa is huge and very comfortable. I'd stay here again no problem.

South AfricaLast flight of stairs was very steep - Dutch style - more difficut with heavy luggage but it adds to the experience of feeling the Dutch living. The crockery (plates and wine glasses) we very limited. Would have liked a few more extra plates. Only 2 champagne glasses and less than 4 wine glasses. Most likely due to previous breakages that have not been replaced.
Keys are at the premised so easy check in with friendly host that was very responsive to additional requests. Spacious apartment with all the amenities as described in the advertisement. Was clean and well stocked with coffee, tee and Dutch cookies. Suffcient cutlery - everying you can think of. The washing machine and drying rack was a life saver. Very comfortable beds. Best of all was the locality. Nestled in the heart of Groningen with various restaurants, bars and in between the Albert Hein and 2 Jumbos for food. Added bonus was the small wine shop De Barrel located below for Borrel and Hapjes. Zuiderdiep bus stop is about 200m from the apartment. We had a car and used the parking garage about 50m down in the same street which worked out perfect. Would stay again.

CanadaThere was a terrible moldy smell in the bathroom. This was disappointing but someone came and cleaned the bathroom the next day after checkin which was great as the smell improved greatly. Overall it was a good stay but the bad smell really was not appreciated. thankyou for fixing that for us.
The location was great. Very close to everything we needed.

NetherlandsThere are a lot of stairs which should be noted because with a barely walking toddler , luggage and a stroller, it wasn’t the easiest to get to the apartment. The apartment is very spacious so good for a family but the neighborhood has a lot of nightlife around so I would keep that in mind when booking.

NetherlandsDespite some positive things (see above), there were several issues that counterbalanced the possibility for a good stay in this property, namely: -1- Unprofessional manager: tried to advance the check-out time (clearly stated at 11:00 in Booking.com) without any valid explanation and in an unfriendly manner. -2- Inappropriate behavior of staff: We were waiting for a phone call to resolve an issue (see point 5 below). Instead, this person knocked on our door and since we did not answer immediately, entered with her own key. This incident happened at 22:30. -3- Very steep & dangerous staircase (we were on the second floor): Not suitable for elderly, disabled, or children. -4- Wine local on the ground floor: with chatting/noises/parties till midnight -5- Hot water was interrupted on the first night, but later resumed after complaining. Staff behaved inappropriately (see point 2 above) -6- At times, a very foul odor coming from the bathroom sewer. -7- No reception, no separate place for a breakfast, no possibility to have breakfast if you did not ask in advance. It is called “Bed & Breakfast”, but this term is not correct, should be simply called “Apartments”. -8- Proximity of the place to a red-light district (not nice if you have children)
Spacious apartment with a complete kitchen, in a relatively good location. It was very clean.

United KingdomI never had an issues during my stay at the property. Was well worth it. The staffs were hands on and were right there when we wanted anything. I will say a very big thank you to Samantha who made sure our stay at the property was comfortable enough that will make us wanna come back . I would definitely recommend this property.
The property is in a very good location within reach to shops and local amenities which was very good. There was also a secured car park about 55m from the property which was really convenient and safe for me

ItalyIf compared to the price: a lot of steep staircases to do with kids. Small bathroom with too much perfume (not enough to cover the sewer smell). Poor maintenance of spaces and furniture.
The position, close to the center and quiet. Kitchen (with coffee) and washing machine useful for a longer stay.
