  • Hotel Grünberger superior Review score: 9

“Great location right on the River Ache with loungers & chairs on the river bank which were lovely to relax in the sun. Extensive breakfast selection which really set us up for the day, we often missed lunch as we weren't hungry. The usual choice of cereals, cold meats, yoghurt, fruit (dried & fresh) & the most wonderful selection of breads. There was a small selection of hot food - bacon with scrambled or boiled eggs. Our room was on the ground floor next to the road so we had a little noise but the double glazing is very good. The room was comfortable with a walk in shower, wardrobe, tv etc & was cleaned daily. The only down side was the restaurant was shut in the evenings but there are plenty of places to eat nearby or a short drive away. If you have a car, there is limited parking in front of & at the back of the hotel & cars often double parked. We weren't told that if you double parked behind someone else, you needed to leave your keys in the car so it could be moved if need be. We only did it once! The hotel is directly opposite the bus/train station & services are frequent & go everywhere. There is a nice pool. We didn't get to use it but it was popular with other guests. There are also massage, hair & beauty facilities which I imagine are open if you actually book an appointment. The staff are lovely, so friendly & helpful. Arne was a joy at breakfast each day & Peter helped my husband get into his suitcase when the lock wouldn't open on the day we arrived, going as far as to phone Samsonite for advice.”

  • “Our second visit, love the pool area and other facilities on site like kids club and restaurant. Excellent breakfast.”

  • Hotel Köppeleck Review score: 8

“Hotel Köppeleck is beautifully situated a km walk from the stunning Königssee, there are easy walking tracks to take you there or a bus stop not far away. The hotel is cozy alpine style, the breakfast buffet had plentiful choice, eggs, fresh fruit and bread. The restaurant for dinner was nice too, German alpine cuisine. We had a fantastic few days stay here, so much to see and do, would like to come back.”
