This wasn’t a problem for us but there is a relatively narrow, unpaved path and steps up the outside of the building to access the upstairs unit.

Spacious, stylish beautifully appointed apartment with plenty of of charm! Kitchenette to self cater for a few nights. Loved the views into the trees.

Rooms not serviced daily impacts time on vacation. Might have been missed on our side. The house lady though was very accommodating and still accommodated us in this regard to help us. Kitchen could do with a bit more kitchen essentials to assist a family who need to eat in , but nothing that could not be managed.

Avo & Oak is a hidden Gem just as you enter beautiful George. It is nestled in a cosy little suburban area and is a beautiful, well designed modern interpretation of South African interiors that blew us away. We adored all the cute little touches, like the festoon lights in Dark passage ways, the clever dual usage of vintage elements in a very modern mix of style was brilliantly and practically adapted. It all worked so well. The wood , the metal the cosy contrast of elements- we were just pleasantly surprised and happy every single time we were there, felt like a dream space. A home away from home. But better. The house lady was sweet, respectful to our space and privacy and we were given remotes for the main gate. She was so accommodating and that allowed for us to get an earlier start to our day and intense itinerary- which was a blessing. The helper was always sweet and pleasant. I would suggest a daily clean up of dishes though, that would really be the cherry on the top. The “3 day change of linens”system works well

The facility and setup was awesome. Very relaxed and calm environment. The hosts (Madeline and her husband) were fantastic. She made great recommendations for family cafes and restaurants. My kids loved all of them. The guest house is in a quiet and beautiful area. But at the same time it is a very short drive to everything (shopping, restaurants, etc.). Would definitely recommend Avo&Oak if you are staying at George.

We stayed in the self-catering apartment that was fully equipped with fresh milk. That is always a plus for me. The apartment was situated on the second floor with a balcony. It was completely private, and all views were in adjacent gardens and trees. The host was friendly and helpful.

Nothing I didn’t like - as all my expectations were met, and neither did I have to request for something to be done or replaced. Everything worked.

Loved the modern rustic feel and decor, with simplicity but everything you need. The mattress was hotel grade which ensured a good nights rest. I had to attend to emergency work meeting (MS Teams ) the WiFi was able to handle the meeting and 2 teenagers doing what they do on Social Media and my wife playing Candy Crush without any issues. Really loved the proximity to York street (Main Road in George) but the accommodation itself was in quiet, leafy street far enough from the main road that you don’t get any noise from the Main Street. Shops and restaurants within in 2-5min drive.

Not actually a bad thing as this unit was not intended to work in probably but a more comfortable height desk/table to sit and work at could make it a more appealling option for people who need to work while travelling like I had to.

The host was very accommodating to me as I needed a place to store my luggage before my check-in time. It worked out so well that I even had access well before check in if I wanted to. Beautiful area and unit. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

The sleeper couches as advertised are only couches and were very uncomfortable to sleep on. It was also a really cold weekend and our guest on the couch was cold throughout the night as the couch was raised off the floor with no solid bottom so the cold rose up through the couch.

It was clean and had everything we needed. The main bedroom was very comfortable and warm. They also have a backup battery to keep the power going during loadshedding.

Madeleine was very welcoming as we arrived during loadshedding and freezing cold but still managed to show us facilities around the property. Appreciate the hospitality. Definitely booking again should I need a place to stay in George. ❤️

Everything was perfect

We loved the "no loadshedding" factor probably the most. The unit was equipped with gas/electric heater, gas shower, electric blanket, induction stove and everything else that we needed.

The fact that our stay was so short lived!! We will definitely do more than one night next time!!!

The stay was so good, we did not want to leave and made sure we stayed until the last minute. We can't wait to visit George again and make use your facilities again. Thank you sooo much for having us over and for accommodating us beyond our expectations.

Not much. Only the water gets cold while you shower. But all you have to do is to reactivate the shower and bath taps.

The facilities, especially the fact that we didn't have loadshedding. The establishment has an Inverter. Gas Geyser for shower and kitchen. Stunning bath. Beautiful all round. Very friendly hosts.
