Featuring 5 different Japanese baths, traditional foods and 2 saunas, Jomon no Yado Manten is just 200 metres from Yakushima Airport and a 45-minute drive from the Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine. The location couldn't be better, it is literally across the street from the airport. Bus stops are very plentiful nearby and the hotel staff is very well versed in showing you exactly which buses you need to get to your destination on the island. They are able to call taxis for you if necessary as well. All around wonderful location and very helpful staff!

A 3-minute walk from Yakushima Airport, Tomarigi offers a bunk in a dorm room, a garden with a hammock and free Wi-Fi. The owner is super nice person! She helped me to plan my trips, she gave me bus time schedule, she offered to prepare home made onigiri and tea every day so I had a snack for my trips. She knows some basic words in English but she can easily translate everything with the Google Translator. Almost all parts of the house are shared, very friendly atmosphere. Toast bread and coffee/tea are available for a breakfast. There is only one restroom and bathroom but I never had a problem to get there. Great location next to the airport and bus stop and drug store. Not noisy, its almost like in the forest.

Located in Yakushima and only 20 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, Cottage Orange House Yakushima provides accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. The host was very kind, spoke perfect English and went out of his way to help us — making several calls for us. The cottage is extremely spacious and has a full kitchen. We loved our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer!

The owner of the hotel was very hospitable. Ecquiped with Google translator and brought me late at night to grocery shop! Such a lovely plave in the nature. Recommended!!

Yakushima Minsyuku Suginoko, a property with a garden, is located in Yakushima, 18 km from Yakusugi Land, 26 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, as well as 29 km from Jomon Sugi. The property was in a great location with easy access to some of the best restaurants on the island. I have been to Japan 5 times and, while I have stayed with many hosts that I enjoyed, Ayumi was the only host to offer to make dinner reservations for me which I thought was amazing. Every time we were in the common area she was there with us, having fun, and making an effort to keep us entertained. We loved her personality. The rooms were comfortable and we appreciated that the property was on it's own and outside of town. When you open the windows, you can hear the sound of nature without the rushing of cars/scooters. Each room comes with its own bathroom which is great as well. Each day we received bento boxes which is such a nice touch! It's hard to find time to stop the days events to get some food and with these we could eat on the go which we loved.

A 3-minute drive from Ambo Harbour, Yakushima Green Hotel offers Japanese-style and Western rooms with ocean views. I liked the location because it was convenient to three different hiking areas. I had a sea view room which was clean and comfortable. The nightly dinners allowed me to sample many Japanese delicacies. Staff adapted well to my minimal Japanese language skills and were helpful in areas I needed help. There was good parking space for my rental car and it was convenient to a grocery store.
