Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh ( 4.3 miles)
Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown is situated in Pittsburgh, 400 metres from Point State Park and 700 metres from David L. Lawrence Convention Center. It features an on-site restaurant. Good location, near a square with a lot of restaurants. Very spacious room, clean, and comfortable.
The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Common areas like the hallways and the elevator were a little dirty and sloppy. The operation seemed disorganized at check-in and in laundry. Breakfast operation ran smoothly and the breakfast was adequate. Not a ton of options but the service was clean and the food warm and well-stocked. The surrounding location seemed like it would be bustling with activity but, on a Friday night was desolate with few late dining options.
Your pillows were so uncomfortable my boyfriend had to go back to his house to sleep. The lady that checked me in with the huge boobs and dirty shirt was telling me to rate your hotel a 1 star. She told me exactly where a "celebrity" at the time was staying in the hotel, on the same floor as me. (She is an Indian famously known for being the smallest person alive) that was very unprofessional. She was telling me about the drama that goes on within staff....like I was just checking in 🤦 she said the rooms are "KINDA clean" I was about to leave right then and there. I wish I could be reimbursed at least half of my bill....
I didn’t know that when I booked with option that there was no ability to cancel, even days in advance. My husband came down with Covid and we phoned a week in advance to cancel and we were told we couldn’t get our money back. Fortunately, his quarantine time ended the day before our trip. We won’t book through Option again nor recommend it to friends and family.
Terrible experience checking in with long lines and unprofessional staff sitting around eating chips instead of helping with the check-in rush. We booked two rooms and one of our rooms was not ready upon arrival at 4:30. The free WiFi did not work. The room with two queen beds had stains all over the carpet and the shower in the kind suite had water damage on floor around shower. The shower itself was dirty. The breakfast was prepackaged muffins, cereal and juice and if the staff liked you they would “find” you a breakfast sandwich. The coffee pots was almost always empty and staff was too busy sitting around to care. Terrible experience and definitely not worth the $800 we spent for 2 rooms for 2 nights. We were told that Sandcastle was in walking distance over the phone and it was not. Do not try to walk there with kids, you will regret it. We tried calling Hampton about our experience and they didn’t care.
Nice little house with only 1 bathroom on the second floor. Two flights of steep concrete stairs in front make access challenging and steep stairs behind the house are dangerous for senior citizens, families with small children, and clearly the disabled.
The walk-in shower was the best feature of the place, but the shower wand hose was somewhat tricky to manage. The breakfast offerings were very limited. As nothing was particularly appetizing or appealing, I skipped their breakfast entirely. The bathroom had very little room to set common toiletries. However, the bathroom was large enough to accommodate a shelf or small cabinet for this purpose. The work table for my computer was somewhat small and the armless office chair was rather flimsy and of poor quality. The sitting chair's armrests were worn and should be reupholstered. Overall cleanliness was excellent. The fitness room had a recumbent stationary bike and a treadmill. This place was just OK. I will most likely research other places to stay for my next visit to the South Hills.
