La Maison Hebridaise is located in Luganville, 5.6 km from SS President Coolidge, and features a garden, a bar and a shared lounge. This guest house features free private parking and a shared kitchen.... A nice respite after a week of travelling. Very clean house and spacious bedroom, the balcony has an amazing view, overlooking the sea in the horizon. Bernard is such a hospitable host and his home-cooked meals were excellent, I ate and rested so well there. I had an issue with Air Vanuatu (good to have more buffer between international flights as last min flight changes seems to be a norm with this airline) and Bernard patiently helped me out with it, much appreciated! The house is in a nice local neighbourhood (nice field behind the property) with the airport and amenities of the town centre close by, it’s perfect as a base to explore Santo.
Luganville (2 miles from Santo-Pekoa International Airport)
Situated just 1.2 km from SS President Coolidge, Million Dollar View offers accommodation in Luganville with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as full-day security. Mama Elizabeth was a very kind host and very welcoming to the place. The site is ideal, baechfront, and there's snorkel equipment you can freely use to see the sunken artifacts right outside your door. Simple place but for the price its hard to complain. Don't go in expecting a luxury resort but for a simple bungalow right on the beach with good food available and kind people this is a great spot.

A great place to stay ! We had such a blast staying at Aore breeze. Set on 1 acre with views over the beautiful Segond Channel, this lodge features a restaurant, massage hut and infinity swimming pool. Best staff in Vanuatu! Service was awesome and was certainly miles ahead of anything else you will experience in Vanuatu. Very helpful with tours, advice and drivers. Our departing flight was cancelled due to bad weather and the owner picked us up from the airport and looked after us for another night without any issues. Food was great too!

A classic in Luganville since 1975, Hotel Santo Vanuatu is a family-run hotel with a relaxed retro feel, and casual and unpretentious island service. What a wonderful hotel in the heart of Luganville! Mary Jane was an incredible hostess, who helped me with great recommendations of what to do and visit in Espiritu Santo island during my 3-day stay. Hotel with a great price for what it offers, where I had an amazing time, in a comfy bedroom. The breakfast and dinner options were both very tasty! I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luganville. If one day I come back to Santo, I know just where to stay ;)

Our trip was a bit too long since we only dived Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The weather was good the first three days then it rained and no Sun for three days. Five days would have made it for us. Remember there’s a plane going firecylindrede from Brisbane on Tuesday.
Much more quiet than Port Vila, great for people than want to avoid crowds and explore local places yet still having all things you might need (wifi, banks, shop) Diving on Coolidge is totally amazing!! Night dive is a must!!!
Rent a car and visit the Island. Santo has so much to offer. Millenium cave is a must (you need to be in a good shape but this is very good.) Going up north to Champagne beach, Lonnoc Beach, etc.... Turtle Bay Blue Holes are worthwhile also... great time there. We never saw so many turtles when snorkeling People are very nice and friendly
This town is small and just developing so is not very touristy which suited us fine. This part of Vanuatu is quite poor so facilities are not five star in most places. We enjoyed this, expect activities to be guide expensive, but worth it.
To be fair on Luganville we were there for one day on a Sunday so everything was shut. But our room wasn’t an apartment so we couldn’t even cook noodles or anything, we literally ate crisps for dinner that night. I didn’t feel safe at night in Luganville. It’s way more rural than Port Vila. But it’s right where the boat to Ratua Island is which is why we were there. However I hear the rest of Santo is incredible. I just didn’t get to see any good parts of Luganville.
If you are going to Santo, I would not advise to stay in Luganville but rather a resort on the East Coast. Not much happening in Luganville and not close to any of the attractions. If you want a rental car, book it early and preferably a 4WD as attractions are via dirt roads and lots of potholes.
