Built in 1635, The Old Tea House provides bed and breakfast in one of Dorchester’s oldest houses. With free Wi-Fi, this Dorset guest house serves homemade food including a full cooked breakfast.

The guest room features a four-poster bed, desk and tea and coffee facilities, and spacious private living room with TV and DVD player. There is also a private bathroom with shower.

The breakfast is five star! The chef will fix whatever you request, but we highly recommend the full English breakfast. Or start your day with fruit and yogurt, scones, pastries, or eggs anyway you love them. The location is perfect. It's a few steps away from two major museums, the Dorchester History museum and the Shire Justice Museum. The Royal Oak is a nice pub across the street, and The Junction Pub has great food, as well. My husband enjoyed the Mixed Grill, while I had fish n chips. We are both Thomas Hardy and fans of T.E. Lawrence. A visit to Max's Gate, Hardy's home is a history buff's idea of a perfect afternoon! The train station, Dorchester South, is within walking distance, as well. There's a lovely park a block away. With playgrounds, and areas to sit and read. We took the train to Weymouth for an afternoon one day, and the next day we went to Morton, Lulworth cove, and Durdle Door. Beautiful scenery. Be sure and ask, the owner, Debs, to give you the scoop on all the history of the house and Dorchester. Both she and The Old Tea House are truly treasures. We loved our visit and we will be back.

What a beautiful place to stay. It was absolutely perfect. A very comfortable and cosy room with a small fridge with fresh milk in. Something you rarely find these days. The tea and coffee were also of excellent quality. Clipper organic Earl Grey, breakfast tea and also Pukka teas for the caffeine free. Similarly lovely coffee. Even a teapot and leaf tea if you like that. The room has a very comfortable bed and is in a very quiet location with outside space to sit if you wish. A lovely bathroom with bath and shower, towel rail heated as it's getting a little chilly now in the mornings and evening. Judy is the most lovely host and nothing is too much trouble. I feasted like a Lord at breakfast with homemade muesli, fresh yogurt with passion fruit, blackberries, blueberries and freshly cooked plums. There were also various cereals too. This was before the delicious cooked breakfast of local fare. Dorchester sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushroom and toast with butter in abundance. All washed down with freshy made coffee in a cafetiere. Thank Judy for making a little haven of peace and tranquility that I definitely needed. I very much look forward to returning and meeting you again.

The b&b is run by two welcoming hosts. It comes with a free parking for 3 cars. I had a spacious room with a private bathroom (a choice of two shower heads), a selection of teas and coffees, and a spacious bedside table top,. It was very quiet at night. Also, there was a nice selection of food offered for breakfast. An added bonus - there were four chattering budgies downstairs.

This privately owned hotel (one of six) has had a restoration costing £6m and it shows in the quality of the accommodation. Rooms quiet, spotlessly clean & very comfortable The staff are attentive & strive to make your stay as good as possible, nothing is too much trouble. The food is a cut above the normal offering which is reflected in the price; much appears to be made on the premises not delivered in a Brake Bros van. Bar & restaurant lively & well patronised. The hotel has its own car park behind it.
