Despite not being fluent in English, all staff (the one family working well together) were welcoming, polite and helpful and were able to develop a more personal connection with guests. Enjoyed the short tour of the village by car at 3.30pm (if you check in and book by 3.15pm) dropping us drop off at the observatory so we could walk back down the hill. Great dinner and breakfast with interesting local dishes and use of local ingredients. Pleasant and interesting music with meals. Wonderful river view and interesting design of room. Lovely wooden onsen overlooking the river. Close to bus and the whole villiage. Everythibg very clean. Spring water onsen and to drink. Was worth the price.

The common area is really nice and coffee or tea are always available for free. I found it easy to reach the place walking 20 minutes from the bus station. The owner offers a shuttle service for free once per day, upon request, but I did not use it. The room was really small but very nice and comfortable.

There were scrapbooks with all information about the village which was very helpful and thoughtful of the host. Everything in the fridge was free for the guests to have and there were plenty of options. The location is just 10mins walk from the main bus station and the supermarket is just across the street. The facility is very clean feels brand new, and also provides a big room with everything you'll need for a great evening in Shirakawago. The only downside is that the facility is 10-15 minutes walk from the bus station and feels a little remote from the main village. That being said, in my opinion the price/value ratio is still the best option if you'd like to stay a night in the village area.
