Perfect place with perfect people! The place that you should be if you are in Santa Catalina! Very cosy room in a small eco village, managed by great people! Amazing ocean view, through the room and the property generally. Elli and Segur - if I'm writing well ;) are always available to give any information you might need and they are both totally gentle and kind. Last but not least, the cleaning in the bathrooms were absolutely perfect - so don't hesitate to book because of the shared bathroom. And always they are free since it's just 4 cabins that they are sharing them.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

Good vibe, very social. Location is good - right across a fruteria and supermarket, 5 minutes to the close beach and about 20 minutes to the surfing beach. Fully equipped kitchen and lots of refrigeration space. The hostel offers shuttles and fairly cheap tours to Coiba

Nice quiet but buzzy hostel - great breakfasts, and nice (but small) cabins. There were nice communal areas where people often chatted and got to know each other, but it also wasn't a "party hostel" where you might be disturbed by noise etc. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The staff is amazing and very friendly and it also has a great location close to the restaurants and the sea side. Great that the huts have AC, that really helps.

We had a lovely time at Rancho Estero. We stayed in one of the cabins/huts without private bathroom. The shared bathrooms are kept clean at all times. The property itself is beautiful and has an outside kitchen as well as lots of hammocks in the shade. You can easily arrange trips to Coiba via the hosts- definitely recommend this trip as it was organised so well. We extended our stay since we enjoyed Santa Catalina and Ranchero Estero so much.

The view was 5 star. The cabin was basic but comfortable. Only a short walk to the beach. Our hosts were very helpful. Great place to chill out, surf , read and rest.

We loved our stay! The room is very spacious and clean and we enjoyed the nice terrace with a hammock and lounge chairs. The lovely owners really helped us out when we forgot two items in the room, they arranged that a shuttle service brought it with them to our next stay (in Boquete). Would highly recommend this place!

The rancho estero is really good located at the playa estero. From all the cabins you can see beach, which creates a beautiful and vacation-like atmosphere. The wooden cabin with private bathroom was clean and big enough for 2 people. The hosts were friendly and helpful

Owners were extremely nice, Steven was very accommodating and helpful. He helped us get a shuttle to Panama City when there were protests and road blockades nation-wide. Also the pancakes in the morning were a great breakfast.

You have to like these kinds of huts - it is not for everyone, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. They are simple - they have a bed, electricity, a bathroom with a shower and cold water only. In other words, things are basic. If that is what you like, the huts and the entire location are very charming. The host was very helpful and kind, so it was a perfect stay.
