Honestly the building is beautiful, and the location is even better. Really friendly people. A perfect place to rest between hiking in the valley. Our room had a balcony overlooking the rice terraces and mountains.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

Friendly family, nice wooden building and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and had heating although we didn’t use this. The shared bathroom was clean, had a great hot shower and toiletries available. Free breakfast was tasty banana pancakes although we had to pay for a coffee. Small bottled water was expensive. A very nice place and family with great views from the bed.

Mamma Mao and staff are just so friendly and helpful. We took the private cabin which was an ensuite with amazing views. The 3 days hiking was exceptional and the views were just breathtaking as was the culture.

The owner was super helpful, providing us info and also arranging for our connecting bus to pick us up directly from the homestay when we left. The chalets are lovely - basic but comfortable - and the homestay is in a quiet part of the town, a short 10 mins walk from Bac Ha's centre.
