When we decided to go to the Amazonas region in Colombia we were hoping for a real jungle experience, to be surrounded by nature and to see animals. But we didn't expect the amazing and unforgettable time we would have at Reserva Tucuchira. To get there by boat and then later walk to the lodge from the river takes a while, but is already an experience in itself as you walk directly into the jungle. We were welcomed very warmly and instantly felt very safe and comfortable. The accomodation is basic (no electricity, shower with saved rain water outside) but that's part of what makes it great and authentic: we had a nice double room with a big bed + mosquito net and waking up with a direct view into the jungle so we could see monkeys from our bed :-). The food is nice and they really tried to make us enjoy our stay (they even made extra veggie options although being a vegetarian is not common in Colombia).
We also felt very welcome in the community of Santa Sofia that is the village close to the lodge and the people there told us a lot about their culture as indigenous and how they try to preserve their language and rituals. They even invited us to celebrate new years eve with them in the community. We could really feel how much they love their home and the nature and we fell in love with it too!
There are a lot of different tours offered and the guides always take care to give you the best possible experience. Our highlight was camping in the jungle in hammocks where they cooked over the open fire for us as well as going kayaking on the Amazon river to see pink dolphins.
If you want to disconnect and really feel what its like to live in the Amazonas this is exactly the right place for you!

This place is a beautiful but rustic spot next to the Amazon river. The food was very good, usually fish from the river. At night the jungle birds and frogs sing you to sleep. It’s not a place for the squeamish, we had a tarantula on our ceiling, but the mosquito nets work well and you really get a chance to be surrounded by the Amazon rain forest. The tours they offer are very reasonably priced, but there are also plenty of places to just hang out and enjoy the nature. The common areas were very social and we had some great conversations with the other guests. Also, the staff was especially welcoming and made us feel at home right away. It was really cool to be able to talk to people who live in the Amazon and hear a little bit about daily life here. Overall, this was a huge highlight for us.

Everything was amazing! What a place! The nature is insane and the cabins are good. They offer day tours which is great!
Good place to chill, but it's no way a 4 star place, maybe a 2-3 star. It was a tre cabin so no much to expect, has running water heated with sun light, electricity and a toilet. Basic accomadation and hard to sleep at night if it rains as you will hear it. Overall a nice retreat outside of the city. You can use the bus that passes by 3 times a day and cost 5000 cop. Also there is a cool neighbour Ospino that will drive you around by tuk tuk, should be 20-25k to leticia. call him on +533209796914
Charlie and his family are just great hosts where you quickly feel at home. The chalets are very beautiful and practical with the air-permeable and mosquito-proof walls. I also took part in excursions offered by Charlie, which were very successful and inexpensive. So my 100 percent recommendation for Cabañas Dechi👍
Simple huts but so sweet and the owners are full of character, kindness and helpfulness. Loved my stay!
An amazing stay! The cabins are simple but a lovely design with views of the big pond area and are kept very clean. We loved sitting on the decking, watching the birds fly around and the cayman swim. Charlie and his family were incredibly lovely, they welcomed us into their home. We learnt a lot about the local area. Charlie arranged trips for us to a local lake, an area to see sloths and a 4 days in the jungle. All were fantastic and very reasonably priced. Thank you so much for a wonderful time!
The location is fantastic. Far enough from the town to be away from any noise and bustle but not too far to walk. The cabins themselves are by a small lake with views and sounds of all the nature around. My cabin was spotlessly clean when I arrived, the bed was comfortable and the mosquito netting did its job perfectly. And the host family, who live in the main house at the entrance to the property, are lovely people, right down to the small children, who were noticeably polite.
I loved the location and it was a great place to unwind after a trip into the Amazon. The Cabanas are large and mosquito proofed. The staff were so kind and there were so many thoughtful touches. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The finca has Amazonian plants labelled. Shuttle to airport. Wifi was great.
the room with net around it is lovely - you could see and hear the jungle around you. it was great, and beatiful, and the room basic, and clean. would have stayed longer if possible. (we received one room a cabin with one room no veranda , although i thought through booking it would be 2 rooms with a veranda)
The experience is something else. No internet, no electricity; only nature! Friendly staff (guides, cooks, etc). The room has the basics you need for a confortable stay (toilet, sink, shower, mosquito nets, portable lamp). I took the full-day plan they offer, unfortunately the water level was not high enough for canoeing, hence it was more of a half-day plan. I had to leave very (very!) early in the morning, and my guide and the cook were there before 5:00 to fetch me from the cabin and cook me breakfast (I was not expecting that).
