We only stayed there one night but wished we could have stayed longer. It was in a great location near the Miradouro Escalvado for the most beautiful sunset. The cabin was clean and well cared for. We especially loved the warm dip in the hot tub in the evening. The communication with the owner was excellent.

Not many accommodations have received a 10,0 from me. Casa do Castanheiro is certainly one of the best houses I have ever rented. An old Adega enlarged with new minimalistic construction and a perfect garden with a pool. A house is a careful mix of old and modern architecture, tastefuly decorated, lit by a lot of ambiental indirect light. I would like to point out the fireplace which I haven't met at other places on Azores, which I find a very important piece, and made the house really comfy and cosy in the evening. The owner is very responsive and nice, and there was no problem arranging check-in out of the hours stated. Many thanks to Liliana for late check-in and showing us the house and giving us pieces of advice on Sao Miguel. I would certainly like to spend my holiday in Casa do Castanheiro again.

Apartments are located in beautiful and rather sparsely populated area less popular among tourists. Sorroundings are hilly pastures and meadows, and the starting point for hiking the highest mountain of the island is some 10 minutes by car. We spent five nights in the lesser apartment and definitely it was one of our best stays ever. Both interior and outsides are designed with great taste, and there was absolutely everething you would need during your stay. And a herb garden is an icing on a cake.
