What I love most about this area is the largely unobscured horizon (compared to the metro suburbs where we are from). Lovely laid-back small town. Walking tracks great for bikes. Nearby Tannum Sands has a beautiful beach.
Our stay was too short (two nights) and next time we intend to indulge in some water sports.
Not a vast selection of dining comparable to other places, but small price to pay for the great feel of the area.

Our room was upgraded to a villa, which has never happened to us anywhere. We were very impressed with the accommodation, very clean well styled and great location 100m from river.
Will definitely return and tell others how good it was

We took our own kayaks and electric scooters and Boyne Island was perfect for both with a beautiful calm river just over the road and 20+ KMs of bike track on Boyne Island and a similar length of track on Tannum Sands over the bridge

Boyne Island was closer to the place we needed to visit, but...
Boyne Island was closer to the place we needed to visit, but as a bonus, it was also a little cheaper than nearby Tannum Sands. Only disadvantage is if you don't have a car or push bike or if you want a beach-view. We ate at the Tannum Sands tavern, returning a second day because we were so pleased with the meals. Next visit we plan on bringing push bikes and/or hiring a kayak. We stayed off-peak on a weekend and it was lovely not having the usual crowds found at other beach locations that we have been to in the past. The community in all areas we frequented were friendly and warm, which also made for a very pleasant stay. :-)

A great location to kick back and relax.
A great location to kick back and relax. Everything you need from groceries to take away and dinning in is within a few minutes drive. Tannum Hotel/Motel does great dine in meals and the Chinese take away smorgasbord on Boyne Island was tasty and great value as well as a very fast service. No waiting around for ages waiting.

This little town is lovely.
This little town is lovely. It has what you need close by and if you're wanting more Gladstone is only 15 minutes down the road, (but there's a Woolworths, Chemist, bakery etc and McDonalds in Boyne Island itself) . It's quiet and very relaxing. Child friendly with large walking tracks so the shared space isn't an issue.
