Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough.
If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered.
There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get.
Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. Stay central to access in walking distance to businesses.
Look up parking, locations etc before trekking out.

Just a short review of penny royal.
Just a short review of penny royal. There were notes of charges of 250 to get room cleaned. I didn’t ask if that was extra cleans Launceston seem a pleasant reasonably small city. Suited me fine. Had a wonderful day with family we ate a a bar in Charles street over from target. Beautiful food. Even burgers I normally wouldn’t eat were delicious. Sorry I can’t recall the name. But it was loverly and we sat outside an had a drink and shopped for a couple of hours
We stayed at penny royal. Very unusual and quaint. A lover very happy would go back
We had a fantastic experience during our stay at this hotel in Launceston. The prime location, just a short stroll away from the city centre, cafe's and restaurants, made exploring and enjoying the local attractions incredibly convenient. The staff at the hotel were not only welcoming but also highly professional, catering to our needs with a genuine warmth that added a personal touch to our stay. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Launceston.
Compares other hotels we've stayed in Launceston, Windarra gave us the home feel, home neighbourhood feel & parking right in front of the house also feels like we're at home.
Deco in the room is lovely.
Our room, #5 - many windows & the view from window & the balcony is beautiful.
Gordon is so friendly & helpful.
Simple English breakfast is included.
Note: This is a big villa with different rooms in it, each booking books 1 room (not the whole house)
This is a great place to stay for a couple of days in Launceston. It’s located on the edge of the CBD, close to the stunningly beautiful Cataract Gorge. The hotel is adjacent to the slightly eccentric Pennyroyal visitor attraction which means it has the benefit of a few places to eat and drink that a hotel in this type of location wouldn’t normally have. My room had clearly been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean.
Placed in the downtown Launceston. Walking distance to plenty of restaurant.
We contacted staff for some urgent inquiry on Saturday evening, but supringly got a call back in less than 5minutes which we really appreciated. Parking can be a little bit tricky if you not have a space booked with the apratment. But there are public parking right beside the apartment as well as street parking.
A gorgeous hotel situated in the CBD. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Bedding was so nice and comfortable sheets... not those rigid hotel sheets. Exceptional quality linen. Quiet location. We are heading back Anzac day weekend and looking forward to staying there again. This will be our go to accommodation in Launceston.
First time to try a pod hotel & it was an interesting experience. I felt like I was in a scifi movie with the room/pod setup which is so cool!
The beddings were clean & new-ish.
Liked that everything was by secure card accessible by tap.
I didn't see the staff but they texted/emailed all details needed so it was great.
The hotel was located in a lovely yet convenient area of Launceston. The room was spacious, comfortable and tasteful appointed. The breakfast and dinner options were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to staying in the future.
I booked the Greeen Room my folks and they loved it!! The quirky decor and all the little touches really made their stay a lot of fun! Plus being in easy walking distance of cafes, restaurants, shops and the free bus service meant we didn't need a car while staying in Launceston.
James went out of his way to make this a great stay for us! The room was spacious with a lovely view of a huge apple tree. The view from the common balcony overlooked beautiful Launceston. It was so lovely to stay in a less commercial, more personalised hotel.
Great hotel with a good price. Initially booked a two days stay but later extended it for another day. Excellent WIFI network. Overall I am quite satisfied with the service. I will surely use this service again when I visit Launceston.
This is great hotel to stay in Launceston. Remodeled rooms and bath that are spacious. The bed was comfortable. The sofa was a bit less so. Quiet room. Comes with a nice continental breakfast which is ample. Host was super attentive.
The location is close to the heart of Launceston making it easy to get to the mall, hotels and various attractions. The bed was lovely, soft and comfortable. The shower head gave a nice wide spray which is always enjoyable.
Stayed there before and it was as good as before. Hotel well located in CBD of Launceston. Good cafes and restaurants with walking distance. Ample off street parking if you have car. Good buffet breakfast available.
Lovely interior to the hotel with beautiful artwork. Very comfy bed! Parking within the hotel without issue. Great spot for a one night stop off in Launceston.
Location was fine, easy to get around Launceston, walking distance to City Park, and accessible parking. Check in & check out was quick and easy as well.
