Very nice town conveniently located close to the archeological site Perperikon. Definitely worth visiting. Also, don’t forget to visit the historical museum in town, the stone mushrooms and the state parks west of the city. We had dinner at the restaurant Vodenitsata-the food was delicious. Also, breakfast at hotel Arpesos was excellent and the staff was very helpful.

What an amazing area with so much to see and do.
What an amazing area with so much to see and do. A weekend was not long enough to get to see everything in the fantastic surrounding countryside. A large but surprisingly quiet town that is ideally situated as a base for exploring the area.

The town itself might not seem like much, but there are some really nice bars to visit and seriously good restaurants. People speak less English here, but still super friendly. But, the main reason to visit would have to be nature. It is beautiful out there! Be sure to get a 4x4 because roads aren't the best, especially after some rain...I had a normal car and had to turn around quite a few times, but still had an amazing time. So much history as well! Temples, castles, shrines...dating back to when the Romans were here and beyond.
