We chose to stay at Isla Violin Eco-Lodge as we wanted to experience a real jungle experience - and that's exactly what we got: We stayed in a hut surround by beautiful rainforest and a lot of wildlife on a remote mangrove island. Keeping that in mind accomodation is therefore quite basic: No mobile (and most of the time also no internet) reception, occasional electricity cut-off and of course a lot of insects crawling and flying around outside and inside the hut (mosquito nets above beds provided). The best part of our stay was the hospitality of the owner (who live at the premises). Giovanni is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Don't miss to go on a boat trip with him as he has so much to tell about the surrounding nature and wildlife. Also he can help arranging trips to Corcovado. His wife was preparing delicious freshly cooked meals 3 times a day which we always struggled to finish due to the size of the portions. Also their son Joshua is really friendly - we played Uno and Domino with him every evening improving our Spanish and his English skills :)

To give a valuation of this structure you must go far away from the conventional Booking questions-parameters. If you are a strong traveller, you're people that like crude and wild sites, perhaps this is the structure you like. It can be reached only through at least 13km/40m of country roads (also a ferry from Sierpe is needed); there is nothing in the nearby (alternative restaurants, shops); the lodges are poor and cheap, some cabins have only external bathroom and cold showers; no conditioning only poor floor fan; only one faint light in the roof, no chance for personal lights near the bed. You should also abandon your widespread english language as the owners only speak spanish and some french but communications are not easy. The night is fantastically dark, you can hear forest and animal sounds. You are really immersed in nature. The garden of the lodge is nice. You can there book many various activities in the forest, along the mangroves, most needing a boat to start. They are well organized by Melvin who is the brother of the woman (Angelica?) who takes care of the kitchen. If all above is what you like the votation would be more than 8

We really enjoyed our stay at Jacamar! The way the place is set up with beautiful plants and flowers surrounding the paths and room patio as well as the room itself was atmospheric. The staff is very polite, easy/quick in communication and very helpful when booking tours to the Corcovado National Park as well as with recommendations for the area.

Pacheco Cabins is located in Drake, 5 minutes’ walk from Colorada Beach. Free WiFi access is available. The functional and simple rooms will provide you with a balcony, a patio and a seating area.

Aircon - it was very hot. Wildlife - iguanas, birds and basilisks came to visit. Proximity to the beach (the north beach is much the better of the two). Restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

The owner (Miguel) and his staff was the best part, he was so helpful and genuinely wanted your experience to be the best. From example, he picked us up and dropped us at the beach, he recommended a day out horse riding with Pepe which was so good, home cooked lunch and waterfall swimming was so memorable. The hotel is clearly a passion, and is not for those looking for luxury (no AC), but that's the point, more in touch with nature

The setting of the property is absolutely gorgeous in the beautiful jungle, with many opportunities to see wildlife right there. Erickson and his family go above and beyond with making the stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I was taken on an afternoon walk on my first afternoon to get to know the birds and wildlife. I went without a car and Erickson constantly helped me with taxi transfers, which they run from a separate family business. Maria, the mother, cooked delicious meals from scratch every evening (for the full duration of my 5 night stay) and it was the best meals I had in CR. All my tours were also arranged for me, which were all fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We loved everything. From the moment we were picked up by Steven, and driven to this beautiful hideaway, we didn't stop smiling. We came to Greenleaf at the end of a 2 1/2 week adventure around the North and west of Costa Rica, and we'd already been in Drake Bay for a few days first, but wanted to finish our trip with a bit of luxury and relaxation with amazing views, and this exactly is what Greenleaf provided. Helen, and Steven, welcomed us with open arms into their wonderful setting. We were treated to delicious juices, fresh fruits, amazing food (which catered brilliantly for my vegan ways), bird watching, coaty spotting and introductions to the whole monkey family who live in the jungle behind the bungalows. Helen was so helpful before we even arrived, booking our snorkeling trip for us, as well as arranging our flight back to San Jose from Drake Bay. Steven was so kind, offering to drive us any where we needed, getting us to and from the snorkeling pick up, as well as dropping us off at the airport. They both make such a dream team, you can really understand why people come back year after year. At the end of a wonderful trip we couldn't have chosen a better place to soak up all our adventures and add this magical experience as a wonderful cherry on top. If you are thinking of going to Drake bay, make sure you stay here, or at least get in touch with them for all their amazing local knowledge and passion. Spectacular location and garden, quiet, with lots of birds and amazing view over Golfo Dulce. Probably one of the best location I have ever seen for an hotel. Great swimming pool. Free kayaks (great early morning).
