We loved the bathtub and accompanying bath salts. The room was nicely decorated and felt quite homey. There was a great view from the window and the location was perfect as we had finished the Ruta del Cares and wanted to continue on towards Feunte De. The owners were very helpful and supportive for us. They offered advice about our next days hike as well. They were accommodating with our inability to speak Spanish, and were willing to speak Spanish or English with us (to let us practice).
This charming hotel is perfectly situated in Cabrales to explore the superb Cares route, where you can enjoy trekking and hiking across spectacular landscapes.

Location of the hotel is perfect for la ruta del cares and others. Staff was super friendly, always kind and ready to help. Food was aammaaazing (and the cider!). I would be happy to go back there :)
Set within the Picos de Europa National Park, Hotel Garganta del Cares is located in Poncebos, the starting point of the Cares Route and the cable car to Bulnes.

This place is a one off location is exceptional. We walked up from Poncebos which I highly recommend ( or down). The staff were very very friendly and the atmosphere great. Food excellent we had Boar Rissoto and not even expensive. Even had a cooked breakfast.

Super, unpretentious, honest little family-run hotel on a small road and river at the foot of a staggering limestone gorge - an incredibly lovely setting, minutes on foot from the start some of the most famous and beautiful trails in the Picos. A most kind and genuine local family run it, working all the hours to provide clean rooms, an all-day bar service and a full menu of simple, tasty home-cooked dishes in their restaurant, where a full 3 course dinner with wine included for just €14 represents outstanding value. The bedroom was clean and attractive, the bed and pillows comfortable, it had the private bathroom I had booked, with a good supply of hot water, towels and toiletries. The central heating in my bedroom was good - and very welcome - too. I was very grateful to the helpful blogger (shout out to kevmrc) who first drew my attention to the Hostal Poncebos as the best place to stay for exploring this part of the Picos. I wholly agree!
Located in Arenas de Cabrales, 45 km from The Lakes of Covadonga, Hotel Los Ángeles provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge.

Quite good hotel - close to village center, shops, restaurants, etc. Clean room.
The rutas del cares is a one day event. Other hikes in the area but I can't imagine more breath taking than this hike. Definitely advise staying in Cain to start hike from that end and not bothering with the last 2km decent into poncebo. Was able to leave around noon and return by about 6:30. beautiful drive into the area from the northwest as well as the drive out into the northeast toward Santander.
I've hiked the alps, west highland way, appalachain, Ireland. Ruta del cares is at least as amazing and well worth the stop if in the north of spain.
Although long not difficult at all. Some really high cliffs but the path is plenty wide to not get panicky.

It's such an amazing path to walk.
It's such an amazing path to walk. The views are great throughout and the landscape keeps changing. We ate at the end of the path, in Poncebos and went back to Caín afterwards. Really nice feeling of accomplishment after the almost 25k :)

This really is the end of the road!
This really is the end of the road! Cain exists for the ruta del Cares walk. Fantastic! Pretty village . busy in season. Semi deserted out with. If you book a hotel then, do check out the eating options.
Very friendly place at the trailhead to the Ruta de Cares. Beautiful surroundings. Small basic room but sparklingly clean, with welcome chocolates and bath salts from the hosts. Nice outside terrace with the restaurant, perfect for drinks and dinner after hiking. Breakfast is included and as we left early in the mornings, the hosts prepared it for us in advance. The hosts are very friendly and speak English. The hotel has parking. WiFi worked well in the room (but not outside).
It is a family run pension located in Cain, the cutest little village you could imagine, right before the entrance to Cares Gorge trail.
It has nice, clean and comfortable rooms and a restaurant downstairs with friendly atmosphere, serving tasty, local dishes.
We were absolutely happy we decided to stay in Cain.
This village is uncomparable with any other village in the area. Staying here, deep down in the canyon was one of the highlights of our trip to Picos de Europa.
Excellent guesthouse at the end of the walking route in cain. Beautiful location in the village. Hosts are so helpful and welcoming. Set menu dinner is excellent. Very cosy, homey place with candles on the bar, flowers and chocolate and bath salts in room. Breakfast nice start to day before hiking. Would love to stay longer to do more hikes in the area. Just a gem of a hiking region in spain
The location was perfect, a day’s hike from Bulnes where we had stayed the day before. Located on the north side of Caín along Rita del Cares. Rio Cares runs past the hotel on the opposite side of the street. Beautiful setting. We were there in October so probably less busy than summer. Lunch and dinner were delicious. Breakfast croissants also.
We felt completely at home from the moment we arrived at this hotel thanks to the efforts of the staff, Antonio in particular spoke excellent English and was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us information about the local area, recommended dishes and was very flexible when we requested packed lunches on our final day! Would stay here again.
Ideal accommodation to start Ruta del Cares from Caín early in the morning. We had a very good experience for the one night we spent there, with friendly staff, free parking (including the next day, as we did the trail and were allowed to keep the car in their parking lot), good breakfast and comfortable room.
Very nice family run hotel. Very friendly and helpful. Great dinner at end of 20km hike.. Nice outdoor grill and grandpa made us some homemade sausage sandwiches for the hike. Also got the recipe off him for his "secret sauces" . Really cool place in the middle of the mountains.
Our best stay in Spain so far! In the midst of beautiful mountains the hotel has amazing views. The rooms are clean. The staff is really friendly. Best of all, you have free breakfast. This place is worth it for people hiking in Picos de Europa or visiting the towns.
Room and bathroom were clean. Host was very nice. The place is also a restaurant. Breakfast was good. We also had dinner, which was also very good. Parking is available onsite. Cain is a very small town and we stayed there so that we could walk in the canyon.
Amazing place in Cain. Very easy check-in process, near-by parking available and the location couldn’t be better. The house is super clean, comfortable and with a very beautiful decoration. Would definitely return!
Breakfast was fantastic! Also the location was perfect for us since we went on to do ruta del Cares that same day. Staff was really nice and we had a great dinner in the hotel.
The hostel is located in very beautiful village of Caín. It is very clean. The staff was helpful to arrange that we stay in one room despite two distinct reservations we had.
The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. A simple, clean attractive room, larger than your normal hotel room at this price, with a stunning view of the mountains.
Perfect location for the gorge walk. Staff were great and the food was good. Parking next to the hotel was a bonus. Stunning drive to reach the hotel too.
