We were very grateful to our host for being so accommodating when our flight was delayed by 5 hours and we arrived very late. Our host was so helpful & gave us great info about Competa. Our room ( the Suite) was really spacious, light and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Couldn't have asked for more!

Fabulous experience! We stayed at La Bulle for one night, the experience is definitely worth it. The room is spacious, the jacuzzi is perfect especially in the fall season. The breakfast is absolutely amazing and very generous for 2 people.

the villa exceeded expectations. Fantastic view of the mountains and the sea. The pool and it was very nice that the host let us use the jacuzzi, because the weather was cool, we could pick oranges and lemons directly from the tree. Difficult to get to the villa, but the hosts sent all the directions, video, so we found it quite easily. I suggest going during the day, because it can be difficult to find a place in the evening. I recommend it. We will definitely come back here again.

Excellent communication with Antonio, such a friendly guy. We parked in the free parking just down from the main square . It’s a couple of hundred metres up the hill to the room but it’s ok with carry on wheelie cases! Great location near the main square where all the action happens, but it’s still very quiet, we slept well, no noise at all. Lovely room with comfy beds, great shower etc and spotlessly clean . Our twin room had its own spacious terrace overlooking the rooftops with comfy sun beds which were great to collapse in after a day of sightseeing. Antonio also owns a restaurant there, unfortunately was closed for dinner when we stayed but we had a lovely breakfast there. We took a 3.5 hr guided e-bike tour up the mountain, the views are spectacular.

Had the best time staying at Kico. The hosts couldn’t have been more helpful. I had lots of questions before I arrived as I like to have everything planned in advance and they we’re very helpful with restaurant recommendations and booking. They arranged transport from the airport and also arranged for cycle hire for me.
The house is beautifully decorated and absolutely immaculately clean. My bed was huge and very comfy. Had the best nights sleep there.
The bathroom was large with a really powerful shower and soft fluffy towels.
They were very accommodating re breakfast and asked what time I would like it. The selection was vast. Freshly brewed coffee, tea, juices etc. cereals, fruit, cold meats, cheese, eggs, pastries toast etc.
The house itself couldn’t be in a better location. It’s a min walk from the main square where there’s a choice of restaurants and it’s great to sit with a coffee and people watch. Although it’s so close it’s so quiet and had doubled glazed windows.
Great views of the sunset from the terrace also, nice to have a drink up there before heading out. ( there’s an honesty bar)
Cómpeta itself is a charming traditional Spanish working village. Lots little shops and a plethora of eateries. Can spend hours getting lost in the little picturesque streets. There are also lots of hiking and cycle trails there.
Offering a private seasonal swimming pool and free WiFi, Casa Mari Carmen is located a 5-minute drive from Cómpeta. This holiday home features barbecue facilities, a garden, terrace, and sun deck.

Great town just to wander around, lovely little streets, plenty of photo opportunities. The restaurants in the square by the church serve very decent food - tapas and similar. Competa is located well for trips to the beach - Nerja, Maro being two we enjoyed and also for trips to the Alhambra and Rhonda (bit of a drive but worth it). Would not really like to drive on the winding road up to Competa in the dark! An April visit was a good choice, not too hot and spring flowers in abundance. There were many walking groups around - those hills look compelling but challenging!

An idyllic town on the verge of the mountains and natural park. There are a lot of expats but the town still has a very Spanish charm. Medical center open and very accessible if needed. Restaurante el Pilon has the best ever lamb chops grilled to perfection with char coal. Several small supermarkets so you won't get hungry even if you're self catering.
People were very friendly in general.

Competa is a truly charming place, a hidden gem… we fell in love with it! A winding climb by car or bus to get to it, and quite hilly walking around the village so anyone with mobility issues would struggle. It is very picturesque with its white houses, pretty planting, central church and square, and traditional life depicted in ceramics. There are lots of good cafes and restaurants and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. We did not want to leave and we will be back 😍

We recently had the pleasure of visiting malaga Hills hotel...
We recently had the pleasure of visiting malaga Hills hotel in the charming village of Competa. Coming from New York, I was pleasantly surprised by the unique experience this village offered.
Firstly, the prices in Competa were refreshingly different from what I was accustomed to in the city. The village had this wonderful small-scale hotel that exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail and personalized assistance provided by the owners made my stay even more memorable. From arranging taxis to recommending excellent restaurants, they went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
One of the highlights of my trip was the opportunity to embark on beautiful walks in nature. Competa's surroundings offered breathtaking scenery, and as a city person, it was a much-needed escape from the bustling urban environment. The peacefulness and tranquillity of the village and its natural surroundings allowed me to unwind and reconnect with nature.
Overall, the combination of the village's charm, the exceptional hotel experience, and the opportunity to immerse myself in nature made this trip to Competa and Malaga Hills truly special.
I loved the host of the home. They are from Holland and welcomed us with the best smiles and spark. From the beginning my friend and I found it easy even to just sit and have a chat with them. They gave us some welcoming Moscatel Wine which is the local one there in Compéta. Apart from that, the location of the place was quite convenient to check out all the cool restaurants, bars and shops nearby. One last thing. Breakfast included was absuloutely amazing. So much thought and care put into it I was impressed!
La Posada del Cani is located in the heart of Competa. The room was clean, spacious. In the reception there was a fridge with ice -cold water for guests (which is really convenient in Andalusia during summer). The bathroom was clean and well equipped. The breakfast is served in a restaurant 200m away from the hotel, and You can get a delicious Andalusian breakfast (cafe, toasted bread with tomatoes, jam or different types of sandwiches, or eggs). The staff is really helpful.
The villa is perfect for a holiday away from it all. It is so beautiful and peaceful, the garden, the scenery, all so relaxing. Competa is a lovely village, with a busyling square, good restaurants and well syocked supermarkets. The surrounding area is stunning.
The villa was spotlessly clean and the owners were very kind and helpful.
The roads to Competa are very winding up into the mountains and the drive to the house itself is hairy, but we got used to it.
Utterly fantastic. Amber and Jason were perfect hosts. The room was lovely, with a wonderful little private roof terrace. There was also the shared roof terrace with amazing views of the valley and Competa. Amber prepared delicious breakfast every day and were always friendly and ready to help with any advice or guidance. The location was spot on, just 2 minutes from the main square, with bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!!!!
This house is a great place for a quiet week in a Spanish white town in the hills. Facilities in the house are great and the roof terrace has fantastic views of Competa and the surrounding hills. It is beautifully decorated and a lot of thought obviously went into it. Easy to find as the local host met us and took us to the property, just a 2 minute walk from the car park. There are many good bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Absolute gem of accommodation. Breathtaking views, 15 mins or so from Competa. The house had everything you could think of , even sun hats, which I found behind the bathroom door. There are plenty of crockery and utensils. Very homely rustic feel to it. It's lovely to hear, then see the goats down the valley. Bottle of wine and bowl of lemons on arrival, there is a lemon tree right next to the pool area.
Albert met us upon arrival in the local plaza and brought us to the hotel 1 minute away and showed us our room, spacious and rustic charm, very clean and also had a fridge )
We went to the plaza for a meal which Albert had booked for us and also paid for our bottle of wine thanks again, lovely hotel and Competa is a beautiful village
Finola is an interesting and wise host with lots of experiences to share. She has a bit of a motherly vibe mixed with a storyteller- or something like that. What you’d expect from someone owning a bed and breakfast. The terrace is wonderful and property clean. Competa also serves as a good base for hiking in the area.
Great hotel with lovely view from the balcony, a great swimming pool, very good food, and smiling personnel. The hotel is very close to hiking paths and Competa itself is a beatiful, picturesque little town with cool restaurants and shops. We recommend visiting Puerto Collado - viewpoint which is 10 minutes by car.
KiCo was by far the best home stay we had in Spain. Parking was free, very comfortable bed, hot shower, amazing breakfast, view from the terrace and central to the town. Dave & Tracy’s generosity and hospitality was beyond our expectation. If you have the chance to come to Cómpeta, this stay is a must. 😊

We liked everything. CasaB exceeded our expectations. It was stunning and the personal touch given by our hosts was second to none. The town of Competa was beautiful aswell. Great restaurants and vibe. We will visit again when we drive back through Spain. Fantastic. Great job Carsten and Bente.
Absolutely the best place! During our stay we felt welcomed. We enjoyed the quiet location in the hills with panoramic views. The location makes the Malaga Hills unique. Great place for hiking and relaxing (indoor swimming pool and sauna). Cómpeta is in walking distance with good restaurants.
This hotel is in a great location, especially for the El Noche de Vino as we were close to both squares with the festivities. We could also hear the music from the terrace which was nice later at night when we didn't want to be in the crowds anymore.
Salamandra Plaza is a lovely little hotel located on one of the main squares in Competa, right across from the church. The location is excellent. The rooms are small, but comfortable. There are several restaurants within steps of the hotel.
Great location - quiet and relaxing with no disturbances. 10 min drive into Competa with everything you could want. Fantastic villa to recharge and reset one’s self. Great communication from Sylvia. Second stay here definitely not the last.
We like the communications with Maria such a lovely lady nothing was a problem for her the apartment was spacious and very nice decor right in Competa square breakfast was superb in the restaurant in the square all part of the price
Small hotel in the centre of the town.
The owners were very interested in our well-being.
One of the best breakfasts of our Andalusian experience.
Our room had its own micro balcony overlooking the old town street.
Beautiful bedroom, with a nice terrasse. Our hosts we're really nice and very helpful.
Competa is à beautiful village in the moutains, away from mass tourisme. Quite place , Just perfect.
