Gorgeous location, spotless apartment efficiently organized, quiet, secure building. Right on the waterfront malecón, which is lovely, with many people and their furry friends out strolling. Host was awesome, so welcoming and easy to communicate with.

Nice old world type of resort very Spanish and authentic Spanish fishing village / small town with a nice harbour and old town area. On the Camino trail so lots of walking routes plus Mt Tecla to view the area from the top.

An unexpectedly attractive town with beautiful harbour and nearby mountain. Lanes often steep and narrow so car driving tricky but possible. Plenty of restaurants and a bakery offering very good breakfasts. A walk up to the castle above the town was enjoyable.

A little disappointed by the recommended Porto Guardes café on the harbour because they didn't serve food till 7.15 pm & the salad was mainly out of a jar, i.e. white asparagus, sweet red peppers, an onion garnish on the boiled potatoes. Would have been better to have a fresh salad. However, the pimientos Padron & the Galician octopus were excellent.
The two mile walk from my hostel to the harbour was wonderful & quiet.
My stay at the apartment couldn’t have been more pleasant. The photos don’t do this magical place justice. There is a lot of space and everything was in perfect condition. The owners were generous and helpful throughout and we are already planning on staying there again!
Some advice if you are looking to stay there, the address doesn't work properly on Google maps and Uber doesn't function in the area so go to the Taxi stop outside Froiz supermarket in A Guarda and ask a taxi driver to take you to the address.
Location was incredible - totally worth the 30 minute walk from the port to get there!
Rooms are not super upgraded but that adds to the charm.
Hotel staff was amazing and so super helpful! 5 stars for the over the top effort of both of the people working the front desk during my stay.
The whole place is reminiscent of family resorts from the 50s with a luxury dining area, lovely patio restaurant, and nice rooms with comfy beds, all right on the beach.
Good location in downtown area close to shopping and services. The staff were friendly and I was offered water after a long day walking the Camino. Breakfast was included which included toast, butter/jam, and tea or coffee. The hotel looks like it was updated in last few years with newer fixtures and furniture in my room. The hotel appears to be family owned, not a big chain.
The host met us and left food and drink in the fridge for us. She was super helpful and checked in regularly during the stay with clear in structions. The place was pristine, comfortable, modern and in a fantastic location to explore A Guarda. There was a small gym downstairs too and bikes were available free of charge. The Wifi was also free and was very reliable.
The view from the hotel and surrounds is stunning! We could see the coast of Portugal from where we had walked on the Camino Portuguese Coastal route. The room was spacious and clean and the area was quiet. Staff were helpful, especially when getting a taxi to go down the mountain. Overall this hotel is great value for money.
Great location in the centre of a village/town and fantastic experience - you can stay in a historical building with up-to-date facilities. After a long day of walking from Portugal, this was a very pleasurable experience. Should we come back to A Guarda, this accommodations would be our preferred choice.
Hotel Eli-Mar is located in a central location, close to restaurants, shops, grocery stores and the bay. There is a lovely long boardwalk along the bay, close by. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast was excellent in the next door bar. our room was clean and comfortable.
What a perfect place to spend a few days. Super little apartment fully equipped
Great garden with sun all day
Parking right at the door
And a great place to get around La Guarda
A really good spot for walking and cycling
Beautiful, museum like hotel. The breakfast was amazing. I also loved the location right at the base of town at the water. A short walk to enjoy a nice sunset or from the patio over the bay.
The hotel sits on the Camino route so it was a perfect location. Nice room comfortable and very good value. Breakfast was excellent and included the best coffee so far on our trip.
The staff was very nice and helpful. Clean. For a simple, basic hotel though, it was very overpriced. It was one of the very few available in town at that time.
