A lovely oasis on the edge of town (800m). Big and spacious and welcoming. A lounge and dinning room and a garden with lots of seating. The hostess is wonderful. Helpful and friendly and caring; speaks English. My room (Double bed(s)) is big and clean and warm. En suite is of a good size and clean with towels; hand soap, but, no soap which I think is an oversight; I have my own. No tele in the room, but, one in the lounge. Breakfast good. My hostess was willing to make me evening meals which were amazing; because I was walking and the town was closed; Sunday. There is parking. A colony of Bee-Eaters nearby and the sound of Golden Oriole’s if you’re a ‘birder’. Plenty of walks and medieval Frias nearby.

This is such a lovely place to stay, so welcoming and comfortable. All the historical and quirky furnishings have made La Torre a beautifully restored building, we loved it! We stayed in the purple room, complete with wonky floors, huge wooden beams and a unique arched door set in the original stone. The bed was really soft with a mattress that probably needs replacing, but it wasn't a major issue for us. Tiny village and very quiet surroundings, but in an ideal location within 90 minutes of the ports. We had dinner there in the evening, a fairly simple menu but delicious and very good value. A super find!
This hotel is situated in the charming town of Briviesca, just a 20-minute drive from Burgos city centre, and is surrounded by peaceful, lush countryside. It features an à la carte restaurant.

Great base for exploring the mountains and the local history...
Great base for exploring the mountains and the local history. Plenty of hiking trails for all abilities. In the evening the tourists have left for the day so you can stroll through the streets as if it was a ghost town.

I wouldn't stay here as a holiday destination but as a stop...
I wouldn't stay here as a holiday destination but as a stop over on the way to the ferry it was perfect. The hotel was right on the main road but the traffic was light and stopped at night and there were eagles circling the hill opposite. There was a car park nearly opposite. The main square in Ona was quite nice with an enormous monastery. Not a place you'd want to spend much time in unless it was as a base for day trips.
As others have commented, this is a proper little gem. Helpful friendly staff, great food (and we’re hungry cyclists) and at the end of the stunning vía verde cycle route from Burgos. Ońa was a delightful place too.
One note of caution to cyclists - if you’re planning to continue North on the Vía Verde, the bridges haven’t yet been built (Oct 21). But you can route through lovely towns and countryside on quiet roads.
We chose the location for the distance to the ferry the next day but what a great place! It's a small town, but was really busy when we arrived on a Sunday. The owner let us park the motorbike in his garage. The bar/restaurant attached to the hotel was great. And what a fantastic ride to get there, with amazing mountain views!
A great little hotel and a perfect stop-over when coming from the ferry in either Santander or Bilbao. I last stayed there in 2018 and unbelievably the price for the room has not changed. The friendly welcome of the family who run the hotel has not changed either. They believe in having a good time with their guests.
Well appointed room with view of mountains and town. Centrally located for the monastery and hiking routes. Very good food and house wine at a competitive price. The breakfast at 4 euros with toasted bread and croissants was good value. Friendly and attentive staff.
Beautiful accommodation in a lovely old building opposite a monastery. Ramon the owner could not have been more helpful - he served us a lovely dinner one night even though the restaurant was closed - thank you Ramon, you are a very kind man!
I was allowed to keep my bicycle inside the property in the reception area. The owner gave lots of information about places to eat in Ona, and provided a map of the town.
Restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast, as well as drinks and snacks during the day. Lovely location by the Monastery and plaza. Able to store our bicycles.
