The grounds are so inviting and comfortable. The hot bath was absolutely divine after two weeks on the Camino de Norte. For optimal enjoyment listen to an opera by Puccini while you soak. The breakfast was served on actual China and was WONDERFUL.

This hotel is a true gem, everything was perfect. The property is nestled in the picturesque medieval town of Santillana del Mar. Great breakfast, cozy atmosphere, spotless rooms, charming interiors. The location is ideal for wandering around the town, and there are incredible views of the countryside from the terrace. Our host, Rafa, was the absolute best! All in all, a stay we won't forget :)

My son (9) and I recently stayed at Hotel Suances during our journey to catch a ferry in Santander. We chose this hotel primarily for its advertised pool and facilities, which unfortunately were unavailable upon our arrival. This was disappointing, as it was a significant factor in our decision to book our stay here.
Despite this setback, the staff at Hotel Suances were incredibly polite and accommodating. When our initial room didn't meet our expectations, they graciously upgraded us to a nicer room, which we appreciated. However, it was evident that the hotel could benefit from some modern updates and amenities.
As a man of culture, I found the overall ambience of Hotel Suances to be lacking. The outdated decor and limited facilities gave the impression of a hotel that has seen better days. While the staff's efforts were commendable, the overall experience left much to be desired in terms of comfort and atmosphere.
While our stay had its ups and downs, the kindness of the staff and their willingness to improve our accommodations were noteworthy. However, I would hesitate to book again at Hotel Suances unless significant updates were made to enhance the guest experience.
In summary, Hotel Suances provided a mixed stay with both positive interactions with staff and disappointing limitations in amenities and atmosphere.
Thank you for considering my feedback.

The most important consideration for us, is always our dogs...
The most important consideration for us, is always our dogs welfare. Our hosts were quite happy for our three dogs to roam their gardens, and for them to join us for breakfast. Not everyone's idea of the perfect stay, but after driving for 10 hours, we could not have asked for anything more relaxing. We love Northern Spain and will definitely consider staying here when we have time to discover more of this beautiful part of the country. If you are looking for a relaxing country retreat, look no further.
