The room was big but not luxurious. The bathroom was rustic but basic with a shower above the bath which was unnecessary for the size of the bathroom. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, especially in reception. The breakfast was superb. Excellent choice of fresh foods. The whole building and grounds are beautiful. We had an interesting wine tasting which was free of charge.

We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch the ferry to UK. This was a perfect place to stopover as it was about 2/3rds of the journey. We set off mid morning, arriving around 1900, in time to relax with a drink on the lovely terrace before dinner in the dungeons (excellent meal - best to book your table online with the castle directly). After a leisurely breakfast, it was an easy 3.5 hour drive to Santander to catch the afternoon ferry.

An excellent mid point stop between The Algarve and Santander The dinner was truly memorable in a beautiful dining room, so lack of fellow diners was a bit of a mystery. The castle itself was of considerable interest.

Food is excveptional - the breakfast buffet was superb and the restaurant evening meals were superb. All I would say for non Spanish is, after a long day of travel, the evening meals do not start until 8.30, so we have stayed twice now and were too tired to enjoy the superb food on the dinner menu and give it the credit it deserves. I do not know whether the hotel would consider for travellers that are tired to open the restaurant at 7pm for hungry travellers, would be great?
Simply stunning hotel in the countryside outside of Salamanca. The castle has been lovingly restored, with excellent attention to detail. The staff are attentive and courteous. Plenty of space to exercise the dog, being able to see the horses was a bonus. The pool is a real asset in the heat of the summer, with a great view up to the castle. Good food & wine. Would highly recommend for a short-break, or, as we did, as a stop en route to/from Portugal.
The bed was comfortable and very large, but I did request a twin room not one bed. We only had a quick breakfast as we had to catch the boat the next day from Santander. The restaurant had a lot of atmosphere. The hotel was a romantic get away with beautiful views and gardens with swimming pool. Full of history and oldy world. Staff helpful.
The Castle is amazing, a beautiful place and a wonderful experience for my four-year-old son. The staff were great and the facilities as described. Food in the restaurant was good overall. Breakfast was great. The decoration and style of the hotel is totally in keeping with the history of the castle and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
This imposing hotel was easily found close to but hidden from the main highway. Large comfortable room with access from outside. The staff were friendly and helpful. A tour inside the castle revealed many unusual and sometimes frightening interesting features. The rack of lamb was wonderful.
Fabulous place to stay and the cost is very reasonable for the uniqueness, comfort, and excellent staff. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as was the view around the castle. The hotel has also taken extraordinary measures for cleanliness and safety. Highly recommend.
Fantastic hotel with the spirit of the 12th century. Incomparable views over the grape fields from the roof of the castle. Nicely decorated rooms, very good dinner and breakfast. A bit of a shame that we didn't get a wine tasting.
Thank you very much for nice stay!
so amazing beautiful and I had my dog who was very welcome thé hôtel gave him a bed with gift biscuits so nice all the staff the diner breakfast everything was amazing perfect
Gorgeous room, large and very comfortable. Location and surrounding countryside beautiful, with plenty of space to walk the dog. The hotel has so much character and history.
It is an incredible place, hard to believe you can stay in such a wonderful place for the cost of a hotel room. Moving around the castle rooms and patios blows you away
