The Château d'Avanton is a fantastic Chateau, which has been done up by the present owners, just north of Poitiers. We stayed in the Mazarin room which is in the roof of one of the side buildings. Although there was no evening meal a list of nearby restaurants was offered and there was a kitchenette in the room. The room was quiet and had air conditioning on another hot night. The internet connection was not always that good but we were out in the countryside. The shower was good although the WC was a touch small. Breakfast was a simple French breakfast. The price was very reasonable. A good stopover point in our journey back to Calais and the UK.JohnUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Lovely place to stay.
Lovely place to stay. A short drive to Poitiers centre or futuroscope. Room was superb as were the surrounding. The kitchenette was equiped with every you might want. The owner was delightful and made us feel very welcome.

It is located approx 10 drive from the Futuroscope (which is greater value compared to standard hotels in the area). The Gite has parking area and small outside area- both are very enjoyable. The hosts are very nice and pleasant to deal with. We enjoyed our stay.

Château d'Avanton is truly authentic, it has not been 'modernised' and so keeps all its character. But it's very comfortable, has everything you'd need (and more). Great breakfast and a super welcome from Madame. A really exceptional place to stay.
