We arrived at the hotel to find an excellent, safe parking area, albeit with only one other car in sight. The reason for this became clear when we were told that the management of the hotel had only taken over ownership a few days before our stay. The first bedroom we were allocated had packets of half-eaten food left in the mini frig but when we drew attention to this they were removed immediately and we were allocated a different room by a very apologetic Alyssia. Extra towels were also brought straightaway when we asked for them. On our arrival we discovered that the hotel restaurant would not be open that night but after discussion a booking was immediately made for us at a restaurant a few minutes drive away. We were also offered a drink from the bar as recompense for the temporary closure. The breakfast was very basic, but again, I am sure that was because of the major changeover of the ownership of the hotel, and having spoken to the proprietors I am convinced that they will soon be running a thoroughly top class establishment.

Pierre, our host was charming, interesting, friendly and most helpful. The property has been in his family for many years but has been sympathetically modernised and retains many of the original features making it interesting, comfortable and relaxing. Pascha, his Scottie dog added to the ambience. The town itself is very 'french' and sits across the river Seine which is beautiful at this point.
