Our google took us to Maintenon to break the journey from the south. It was slightly out of our way but well worth the detour. Very pretty town, lovely buildings and castle but very quiet in the evening.

Small but interesting town with fascinating architecture and a beautiful Château. Restaurant choice was limited as most were closed on Monday night. The town has a lot of traffic going through it, so it’s hard to find somewhere to sit outside and have a quiet drink or bite to eat.

The chateau is exquisite: and a manageable size on a very hot day! Beautiful gardens too. We ate at Sables de Roses, a Moroccan restaurant, which was simply fantastic (recommend chicken ravine with lemon and olives).

We did not use the restaurant in the evening. We went out to a nice one in the town. We came back for night caps. The breakfast was very good. We did not use the spa. The underground secure parking was fantastic for our motorbikes.
