The location is fantastic. Our private double room Was large and clean and the fan was efficient. Communication was via text only but very prompt and helpful. We put wine and beer in the shared fridge and the other residents were respectful and nothing was taken. Swimming in the canyon was fabulous! Kettle and English tea in the room was a result!

Tranquil. Pool area very well done. Enormous jacuzzi (we didn't have time to use it). Nice to have deckchairs outside the room. Lovely view onto vineyards and beyond. Close to town and other attractions.

    Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is a stunning village.

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is a stunning village. It's quite small but there are enough restaurants, cafes and bars to keep you happy. The main square has several places to eat, with seating in the middle under a beautiful, ancient plane tree. There are gift shops but no actual supermarket so stock up on supplies before you arrive. A couple of shops sell fresh bread each morning. If you're into history, the 9th century Gellone Abbey is a must - it's beautiful and peaceful and the small museum is full of fascinating information. Entry is free. Vehicles are restricted but there's generous parking at the top and bottom of the village. Our host provided a ticket to put in the front of the car which allowed us to park and I think most others do the same. The river and gorge is just a walk away, although you have to go by bus or car, a few minutes, to get to the Pont de Diable and the various canoeing spots. Quite a few companies offer canoe trips and we had a great day doing that, highly recommended. Also an evening swim at the bridge was a highlight. We went out of French holiday season so it was bustling but not rammed. I would imagine at the height of summer it would be extremely busy.

Was just a stop over for us as we were passing by on the way to Andorra but was charmed and fell in love with this rustic little town. Easy and fun to explore the streets and great for walks and water activities. So easy to unwind and relax here! Food was wonderful as were the locals- all welcoming and willing to help.
