We were travelling to my son's wedding in the Loire Valley and needed somewhere to stay overnight off the N10. We just wanted somewhere to sleep and have breakfast for my husband, myself and my elderly father. The Étape de St Hilaire more than fulfilled our needs and expectations. Once we had caught the attention of our host (and possibly because I was able to converse in French with him) we had the friendliest of receptions. We were expecting just a couple of rooms but it was the whole of an apartment over the host's farmhouse. The location was off the main road so fairly quiet (just distant traffic noise) and the breakfast was superlative! The host's wife brought up a large basket of bread, croissants, homemade jams, homegrown damsons and eggs laid by their hens! It was just perfect.

Bathrooms are roomy modern and clean second time we have stayed. Please note they do not serve an evening meal on Wednesday. Have had a meal there and it was good

The hosts were very welcoming and the rooms were excellent - a whole apartment over the farmhouse. It was clean, well-furnished and quiet. Breakfast was delivered by the host's wife and was wonderful: homemade jams, home-grown damsons, eggs laid by their hens, bread, croissants etc. Who could want for more?!
