Lovely house, beautifully decorated with love! Very kind and friendly hosts. They helped us a lot by making a reservation for us at a nearby restaurant. Delicious breakfast, which was served to us by exception at 7am because we had to leave early. Convenient location to visit the vineyards.

Private enclosed garden leading down windy path to small...

Private enclosed garden leading down windy path to small delightfully renovated old farm building with stone walls and period charme. Tastefully renovated with a mix of old and new. Sombre and cozy inside, you can look out at the big tree/small garden area, or comfortably watch TV. Small bright functional galets shower/wc/sink room with towel rail. Living/eating and sleeping area, spacious enough for 2+ people. Candles. A few spices, plenty of teas/tisanes/teapot. Coffee. Wooden decking across front with 2 seating areas between the building/the tree hung with solaire bulbs. You drive mainly through pine forested roads and some small villages with shops. .. a bigger town appears as you head NE shortly before arriving at the holiday house, in Medoc land. It's set along a dead end, so can park on the village lane 50m away. Hourtin lake, the biggest natural lake in France (so say) is 20 mins east , with its helicopter pad, narrow sandy beach used in winter by windsurfers etc, marina, restaurants/snack shops. Other beaches etc around the lake if time to explore. Leaving the property to head up country (beaches off to your right) if you wish to avoid the busy Bordeaux ring road, you can take the car ferry at Point de Grave (45mins NE from house) across to Royan a 1950's thriving big beach town. 20€ish car, €1.80 per adult approx, about 5 times per day (end of December)... If you stop at the beach nearby beforehand... please note the dangerous strong tidal estuary current, so don't wade out too far, now being near the mouth of the estuary now.
