The location itself is not great, on the edge of the industrial outskirts, but the grounds of the hotel are very pleasant, and it's nice to look out over the garden and pool at the back from the bar and restaurant. The food was good, and reasonable, both dinner and breakfast.

Les chambres et studios Camping Parc de Paletès, hotel in Saint-Lizier

This camping ground and hotel is 2 km from the centre of Saint-Girons in the heart of Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park.

The Camping is approx a 30mins walk south of St Girons on a seperated path from the main road so is accessible by foot, but up steep hill. Driving there is very straightforward. The staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were good, with freshly baked baguettes, croisants pain aux chocolats, yogourts and fuit. A hot drink of your choice is also offered along with orange juice. The campsite has some wonderful views, but it's slightly off the main hiking routes from St Girons (which are mostly on the other river bank). The room was clean & bright with large windows a good view and a balcony.

La Ferme de Jeanne, hotel in Saint-Lizier

La Ferme de Jeanne was an 18th century farm, located in Saint-Girons. This bed and breakfast has a flower garden and a view of the Pyrenees Mountains.

Breakfast was super tasty and the dining room was beautifully decorated. My bedroom was large, as was the king size bed, decor was an eclectic mix, however it worked well. Also the views from the pool area were outstanding

Lovely old town with very steep and narrow winding streets.

Lovely old town with very steep and narrow winding streets. Great place to wander around. Bit difficult to find somewhere to get a coffee or drink. However St Girons is only a few minutes up the road with plenty of cafes

    Beautiful views. Lovely walking area.

Beautiful views. Lovely walking area. Very peaceful but enough going on to make it interesting. Nice market in the village square on Wednesday mornings selling local produce. I was on a painting holiday so did not really have time to explore.

Very interesting old small town on a hill.

Very interesting old small town on a hill. Good leaflet offers a walking tour that helped explain many features we might not have noticed otherwise. Spent a whole day meandering around the narrow roads, admiring the centuries-old buildings. Must be able to walk up steep hills and on uneven surfaces, but they are part of the charm of the place.

When we arrived at the hotel, there was no electricity, no candles or torches or emergency lighting. When the power came back on 17 hours later, there was no fans in the room and the temperature in the room was 43 degrees. We couldn't endure these temperatures any longer so we checked out 2 days early, and request some compensation, which the manager said he was not in a position to authorise.
