Le Nid de Sigogne, hotel in Sigogne

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Le Nid de Sigogne is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Sigogne, 44 km from Saintes Train Station.

The initial reason for booking first one, then two nights at Le Nid, was its location as a rest spot on a long drive, but what a stroke of luck to have booked such a wonderful experience - Christelle provided an outstanding welcome, accommodation and food - we're relatively seasoned travellers and have stayed more places than we care to remember, but this was a stand-out experience in all respects. We provided a bit of a challenge in that not only are we vegetarians, but we are also extremely covid-cautious (being somewhat clinically vulnerable) - so we wanted to be able to eat in our room. Christelle was extremely respectful of our needs - she set up our room for dining, delivered our evening meals and breakfasts to the landing outside our door and guaranteed not to enter the room for the duration of our stay. Not only that, but she cooked two three-course vegetarian dinners which were truly wonderful and up there at the very top of any we've ever had. On top of that the accommodation itself was also lovely with, in our opinion, innovative and creative use of materials and lighting - the room and ensuite are a pleasure to the eye and imagination - if we were to suggest anything, it would be some means of shading or dimming the bedside light. We wish we'd had more time to explore the surrounding, for which Le Nid de Sigogne is a great base - we did take a wee trip to Cognac, which in itself deserved much more time, but we had a timetable to keep. Le Nid was the absolute highlight of our long road trip south and of many years of travel - Thank you, Christelle!

Amazing little apartment in the middle of town, I loved it! The kitchen had everything I needed, the bed was super comfy, and the apartment was a delight. I arrived in town on a big bike trip, and this was the perfect place to stay. Some fantastic bakeries are around the corner as well.

We loved the fact that we could eat all our meals next to the pool which is surrounded with really comfortable sun loungers. The kitchen is well appointed and well equipped. No en suite bathrooms but there is bath as well as 2 showers and 2 lavatories Jarnac is 10 minutes away and we visited the fascinating Courvoisier museum. Cognac also nearby is a lovely town where we had lunch. Jean Luc the host lives upstairs but he is very discreet and also extremely pleasant and helpful.
