la ferme des epis, hotel in Thury-Harcourt

Located in Le Grand Aunay, 1 km from Ouffières, La Ferme des Epis is set in a renovated 19th-century farmhouse, which is sitting in a 7-hectare park.

Located on a farm in a small village, the accommodation is in narrow but very comfortable cabins, and they have everything you need during your stay. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchenette is fully equipped and there is a small dining area, small toilet, and shower. The farm complex has animals roaming freely, a soccer field, basketball, balls, games, and a great atmosphere. My son played until late at night with other children staying at the site.

La grange de la vallée, hotel in Thury-Harcourt

Offering a garden and quiet street view, La grange de la vallée is set in Hamars, 28 km from Ornano Stadium and 29 km from Racecourse of Caen.

Hospitable people, both the man and the woman made sure that I had everything to stay for the night. Despite my French being on the level of a 1 year old, the owner brought his iPad with a translate app to explain everything I needed to know for my stay, for which I am very grateful. The house was very clean and there was a TV (didn't use it), small kitchen with stove and refrigerator and a new bathroom. Just a note: in theory 4 people can sleep here, but there is 1 two person bed, a single one person bed, and a couch downstairs that can be used as a bed. In my opinion this would make this a max. 3 person house for longer stays. For short stays 4 people should be fine. The beds were nice and comfortable from what I could see for just a one night stay. Be mindful that this house does not have airconditioning, so if you plan on staying for during hot summers, be prepared to sleep in the heat. The windows of the house can open so this can help a lot, but I thought I would mention it. Parking space is right next to the property and there is ample space for 1 car. Two or more might get tight. Breakfast was right on the agreed upon time and included a small baguette, orange juice, a croissant and butter and jam. A warning about the Internet at the house, the WiFi is free to use during your stay but the speeds measures were around 2 mbit per seconds. 3G/4G reception was absent downstairs so if you need a fast Internet connection, be warned. Not a deal breaker for me. But the most amazing thing about this place is its location. It is in de middle of nowhere and that has both benefits and downsides. Petrol stations, supermarkets or the like are not in the neighbourhood and you have to take the car to go to a restaurant, but if you really want to know what life in the country side of Normandy is like, I really recommend this place. The drive alone to this place was really nice and I really felt I got a glimpse into another part of France that is often forgotten.

Thury is in a main Road, lovely countryside around it.

Thury is in a main Road, lovely countryside around it. Plus side is that it is an easy drive to the ferry port and the Normandy Beaches, minus side no good restaurants, especially on a Monday, heavy traffic and not much else.
