Kingfisher Barn B&B, hotel in Abingdon

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Kingfisher Barn B&B is a recently renovated bed and breakfast set in Abingdon, 17 km from University of Oxford.

Breakfast was good for my taste. Oat meal and cereals with yoghurt and fresh fruit, boiled eggs offered, crispy croissants (with and without chocolat), toast, and good coffee from the French press (or tea if preferred). Fresh orange juice. The young lady taking care of the breakfast buffet was very friendly - and the only staff I encountered during my stay. Automatic check-in was anyway easy. Check-out just by closing the door, leaving the keys inside. The location could have been a little closer to Abingdon, but a 10-15 min walk gets one right to the Thames (beautiful!) and the city centre with pubs and restaurants. Could be an issue with bad weather and no car. Walk in the dark at night. In my case, it was very pleasant.

We'd just missed the farmers market on Friday which was a pity. Science convention in the square on Saturday. A real hive of activity. Lots of lovely historical buildings and the Abbey gardens were lovely even on a wet march day.

We live in Leeds so the trip to Abingdon is one of our favourites .A small market town with lots of places to eat and lovely Oxfordshire countryside and wildlife. Nearby Bletchley Park is definitely worth a visit. There are lots of places to walk in Abingdon and lots of history to discover. Oxford is only a bus ride away and they are very regular .Would never drive there.

Check there is not a party or wedding reception the night you are staying. The restaurant, bar and lounge are unavailable and the music goes on until midnight. Not inform of the lack of facilities before or on arrival. Received standard email with restaurant and bar opening times the day before we were due to check in.

Lovely place. Excellent location if you're visiting Oxford by car. Abingdon also has its charms so convenient for that too. Room was nice, a bit on the smaller end, but perfectly comfortable. There are other options available. Tasty breakfast and an excellent variety to choose from. Fantastic staff!!! Friendly and welcoming! Kudos to the team! Definitely value for money so highly recommended. We will be staying again for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dinckley Court. It’s a beautiful property located as it is alongside the River Thames and the perfect spot for visiting Oxford and other nearby parts of Oxfordshire. There are many great options for eating nearby. We received a very warm welcome from Annette and our room was very comfortable and well equipped. We would definitely stay at Dinckley Court again!

Good location for central Abingdon. Polite staff but room 1 above pub with music and noise until after midnight, so woken up when kicking out time. No tea and coffee facilities in room, but there was juice and water in fridge on the landing. Room very recently upgraded so it was comfortable and modern in an old creaky floorboards building. Felt it was expensive with no cooked breakfast.

Very handy location for us as family live in Steventon. Stayed in the accommodation that is situated off the courtyard / beer garden with your own front door. Bus stop to Abingdon and Oxford very short walk and also a coop which was handy. Car park was right next to accommodation as well so overall really handy for getting bags in. The beds were very comfortable and we would book again.

Overall a very enjoyable stay. Very good parking by door, good sized utility and downstairs WC. Excellent, spacious and comfortable downstairs with lounge and kitchen dining areas and very large TV. Both bedrooms were very comfortable, one having an ensuite. Heating effective throughout. Oxford buses stop near but and Waitrose excellent. Abingdon Museum worth a visit.

The apartment block was quiet and the other residents respectful of the no noise after 9pm rule. Great central location close to Abingdon town centre I highly recommend breakfasts at R&R and a visit to Mostly Books around the corner. There's buses regularly into Oxford from just round the corner every 20mins.

Good central location in a lovely part of Abingdon. Free on site parking. Very close to town centre, supermarket, Abbey Meadows and the River Thames. The hotel has its own Pod Point EV charger, and there are plenty more available in the public car park a 2 minute walk from the hotel.
