An exceptional hotel. The staff were lovely, the location perfect and the room spotless. We enjoyed this so much that we immediately booked another stay. A massive thank you to all the staff and the owner, who went out of his way to make us welcome. We also dined in the H bar and restaurant which was similarly excellent

Bakewell and the Peak District has been our family’s Happy Place for 15 years! Just love the whole area. Busy village, with plenty of shops and places to eat, a lot selling local produce. A busy market every Monday. As an active family enjoying the outdoors, it is an excellent base to explore the surroundings. Lots of opportunities to walk, hike and cycle. Plenty of historic properties in the area, including the wonderful Chatsworth hall and gardens. Great places to eat, with one of the best Indian restaurants. An amazing part of the country!

Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District.
Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District. It is picturesque with lovely walks beside the river which is close to the town centre. Plenty of small independent shops along with other retail outlets. Loads of cafes and the deli was superb.
We were given a very warm welcome and all the staff were friendly. The room was cozy, clean and comfortable and it was great to have a full sized bath. The pub is very conveniently situated in the centre of Bakewell and having its own car park is an extra bonus. It was a very convenient place to stay overnight after our visit to the nearby Thornbridge Brewery, which can be reached in less than half an hour on foot, even if taking the longer scenic path across the meadow by the river.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rafters, the ground and house was so picturesque and lovely it felt as if we had stepped onto the pages of a Jane Austen novel.
We had two rooms both with beautiful claw foot bath tubs, which are a must on a cold winters eve.
Finally, the breakfast was spectacular. A full three courses, and even an vegetarian option to the full English breakfast which was the best I have ever had.
Thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable!
The hotel was in a great location in the centre of Bakewell and close to all shops, pubs and cafe's, we booked a suite to celebrate our 30th anniversary, the bathroom was lovely and spacious, the bed was very comfortable and there was unlimited high quality tea and coffee supplied to the room. We had an excellent evening meal on our first night, would highly recommend eating in the hotel as breakfast was also delicious. Reception staff were wonderful.
Very convenient to Bakewell shops, restaurants, and attractions. Staff was very welcoming and appropriately responded to our requests. We arrived by bicycle and were allowed to store our bicycles in the foyer. The room was large and properly furnished. It had good natural lighting from large south facing windows. Breakfast was ample and cooked to order. The price was reasonable and I would definately stay here again.
Beautiful cottage, luxuriously decorated but felt very homely. Everything that you could possibly need was provided, together with a lovely welcome pack. Lots of space inside for 4 people and very comfy beds. Cottage is very well situated for exploring the area - 5 mins in the car from Bakewell, 30mins from Matlock, 15mins from Eyam. Would definitely return and will recommend to others - 5* accommodation.
We have stayed in this hotel before and it never disappoints. A beautiful building with an annexe (we were in the annexe) set in the centre of beautiful Bakewell. Super comfy beds and lovely, well equipped rooms. Lovely, friendly staff who will always go the extra mile. Absolutely delicious food, too! We can’t fault this fabulous hotel.
Such a lovely B&B! Very clean, quiet and well located for Bakewell town centre. Ivan and Elizabeth were lovely and accommodating and very helpful in recommending places to visit and eat. The room was clean and very comfortable, and the cooked breakfast was really nice. Couldn't fault it, would love to visit again.
A beautiful cottage so close to the centre of Bakewell, but in a really quiet location. The cottage had character and everything we needed to make us feel at home from the minute we arrived. We would definitely love to stay again.
Thank you.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable, clean, spacious, with a kitchenette and lovely views out of both windows. Such a beautiful place to stay, a short walk from Bakewell itself although there is a hill. We would stay again.
The View.
But we were told we had a free upgrade to a room in Bagshaw Hall...but having stopped over before in the Sleep Lodge we disagree. This was more like a Down Grade in our opinion.
Great place to stay within walking distance of the centre of Bakewell.
Lovely modern interior.
Excellent communication with James, the owner on arrival. Would stay again.
This is a small and friendly boutique hotel, located in the centre of Bakewell. It served us well, in terms of comfort and reaching all of the tourist attractions.
very clean and comfortable, very helpful and friendly welcome from the staff and perfect location - Bakewell town centre only a couple of minutes walk away
